Charles Manson: Conversations With A Killer

What was Edward George thinking?
I am reading this book for a second time and for the life of me I wonder how George ever became a prison C.O. He admits to being fascinated by Manson. Manson was a low life criminal who was able to con young women and men to murder. And George keeps up a correspondence with Fromme because he feels sorry for her? Frankly George needed major counseling himself. Sorry but he can call the other C.O.'s goonies but to have to work with the monsters day in and day out and expect those monsters to be treated with gentleness and kindness and understanding is ludicrous. The book is interesting to see how Edward George is played over and over again by a low level punk. I have several relatives who have worked as C.O.s in various prisons across the nation. It is a thankless and extremely dangerous job. Read it if you are interested in the rantings of Manson.

This book is garbage
You can hear all this same garbage from watching a couple of Manson's parole hearings. He spouted the same insane twaddle, about how he was the savior of mankind and nobody could help the earth but him. He didn't believe that crap but it kept him in Vacaville. He liked the drugs they gave him in Vacaville and he liked the ones he could buy on the prison marketplace. This guy sounds like he was 12 or 13 when he went to work at Q. Manson was a punk and nobody in the entire prison would 'follow' him. They took advantage of him endlessly, but follow? Don't make me laugh. He wasn't a criminal mind, he was a mentally ill human that had become institutionalized. Period. You could find a dozen just like him in ANY prison in the country. There isn't a con alive, one who has done significant time, who couldn't play the same manipulation game Charlie played on those stupid girls. I've done it a million times. Got laid a million times because it was so easy. Lol!

Book is fine but come with dirt on it.
The book is interesting I recommend it, but come with sticky dirt on it; I had to wash it delicately with a wet towel.
