Michael Flatley: Gold [DVD]

For those who enjoy Michael Flatley's performances then this is a must! The interview scenes with Flatley can possibly be tedious once you have seen them once, but as a biographical record they are excellent and give a good insight into this egotistical character. And of course he has much to be egotistical about as he's a brilliant performer and has an amazing stage presence. He alone can bring a show to life as no other. I've yet to see anyone in the ongoing Riverdance cast who can match his charisma.The DVD illustrates his early career, which is very interesting and sometimes quite surprising. It moves from early Riverdance through Lord of the dance and then dwells on the evolution of 'Feet of Flames'. I hadn't expected anything new but in fact the changing nature of the delivery of 'Feet of Flames' is just that. The last third of the disc comprises of all scenes from a very much revamped show held in Budapest. All of which comes across as new material and is simply great entertainment.A DVD that is well worth the money.

I am a huge fan of Michael Flatley and this DVD shows him at his very best. He is a unique talent in the world of dance. He is a genius in the world of dance. He is creative and artistic and imaginative and exciting in everything that he does. From the evening that he burst upon our screens during the interval at the Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin performing Riverdance he has proved himself to be a superstar. This DVD contains pieces of work from every stage of his magnificent career. If you own nothing else of Michael Flatley buy this DVD.Gerry Mc Menemy.

Yes Michael Flatley does have a huge ego, so I'm not crazy about him as a person, but still buy most of the DVD's of his shows because he's very talented and imaginative. This DVD is so stuffed with treats it's a wonder it doesn't split, hee hee. I loved the revamp of the 'nightmare' scene in Feet of Flames and was so pleased that my favourite dance 'Saiorse' was included. If anybody could tell me the real title of that music I'd be very grateful. Well worth the price.

Excellent dvd of Michael flatly doing what he does best. Loved it !

Michael flatley gold dvd was a very sensitive insight into the life of michael. It revealed not onlt his dancing brilliance, but also highlighted his flute abilities. The examples of his dancing prossionalism and his heartfelt reasons for becoming an excellent player of the flute were shown as expression of his determination to be the best at whatever he tried to do. The dedication to his fighting prowess was surprising, but further portrayed his strong character to make it as a successful human being. This dvd is excellent and inspiring.

Eine weiter Geschichte des typisch amerikanischen "vom Tellerwä… äh Vortänzer zum Millionär". Mit viel Willen und Disziplin und dem Glück, im richtigen Moment zu kommen, hat es Michael Flatley vom Unbekannten Ballettänzer zum Leiter eines der größten Tanzspektakel der Welt geschafft, das mit mehreren Besetzungen gleichzeitig um die Welt tourt. In der DVD werden Filmausschnitte der Aufführungen von ganz am Anfang der Karriere in einem Kabarett mit einer Handvoll Musikern bis zur heutigen Version des "Lord of the Dance" auf Megabühnen mit Zehntausenden Zuschauern gezeigt, dazwischen Interviews (auf englisch mit deutschen Untertiteln), in denen er die Geschichte Revue passieren läßt. Ein dritter Handlungsstrang ist in den Filmablauf eingewebt und betrifft die (relativ banale) Geschichte die das Spektakels selbst in seiner derzeitigen Version erzählt, angefangen mit dem kleinen Waldgeist, über Kämpfe, Liebe, Verrat, Befreiung bis zum großen Finale.Auch für Kinder geeignet, die meist Spaß an den Tanzszenen haben.

Michael Flatley ist ein großer Künstler. Sein Show vom Zuhause anschauen zu können ist ein Geschenk. Sehr zu empfehlen, um Energie und Inspiration zu holen.

Having been very disappointed by the what was titled the "Best of Riverdance" only to find out that the greatest dancer of the pack was only in maybe two short clips, I searched for something with Michael Flatley in it. I still can't find the original "Riverdance", but I found this! It was wonderful to watch him dance, he is the best hands down! It is also a window that provides a peek into the man. He gives you inside information about himself (like the fact that he was a golden gloves winner). Get it, you will enjoy it. I also highly recommend "Feet of Flames". How wonderful to see the best!
