So Much!

I love this book, SO MUCH!
I just love this book!!! I remember my brother and I found this as an absolute favorite when we were little, and my mom would read it to us EVERY night. Now, my two toddlers (2 and 3) ask me to read it EVERY night lol. There are alot of reviews on here that talk about the grammatical errors. Yes, there are are errors, but it is geared toward the language of toddlers. It's such a cute, sweet story. And as far as people getting mad about the "I want to fight the baby" part, I for one replace the word fight with wrestle, for my peace of mind lol. But also, it's not graphic or violent as some reviewers are inclining. It's a big cousin coming over to wrestle with the baby. Something my brothers and nephews do with my son. It's a family-base and sweet, loving story. So worth it! Plus, the pictures and color are so nicely done.

The Absolute Best
I purchased this book for my 2 year old daughter to replace a paper back one I previously purchased that was destroyed by various infant beverages (hmmm...I wonder who did that).Anyhoo...the book exceeded my expectations beyond my greatest imagination. My daughter and I already loved the book to pieces, but getting the hard covered one really has made it that much more of a favorite. This story is a definite must have for any black parent or any parent attempting to raise a race-neutral child. The illustrations are big (which keeps my daughters attention), the story offers the repetition that children respond to (my daughter repeats many of the words with me), and helps parents teach about family members (mentions of cousin, daddy, mommy, aunt, nannie and gran-gran).Enjoy this one with babies on up through the years.P.S. Keep it out of reach of the kids if you want to keep it for years because it is sure to be a family favorite!

Adorable
Adorable! I love this book so much that I have bought more than one copy, and I have given copies of the book to others. I have read and discussed the story with my kindergarten students. They love the story, also. The illustrations are lively. It's cute rhythmic pattern flows, as the story shows a gathering of relatives of various ages that focus their attention on the baby. It shows how relatives often interact with and talk to babies in an exaggerated fashion. When the cousin says "I want to fight the baby", my students discuss what the child really means. They are able to figure out what that really means. It's a great book, in fact it's so great that I'm going to purchase it again!

I love the image and reflection it shows for a black man and his child. This was a gift for my niece babies she has twins and wants to create a library for them. I'm glad she requested books for her children very smart move. Even more dope it's a black Author.

My Grandson's Favorite Book
Being an excellent aunt, my daughter bought this book for my grandson. He has many books, but whenever it is time to read to him, this is the book he selects most often. I love the way it is written with repititious sentences which helps develop reading. We have to watch out though, because my grandson loves to act out some of the action in the story. We love the pictures in the book also. It's not just my grandson who loves being read to from this book, we also love to read it to him. I am going to buy this book as part of a gift for a baby shower where the parents have asked the attendees to forego a greeting card and enclose a book instead. What a great idea!!!

I want to love it…
…but it’s just so poorly written! The story is great but I just cannot read it the way it is written. I have to change the entire book to read with proper grammar and that’s simply unfortunate. Otherwise it’s a decent children’s book.

Every child must read this book!
This a book enjoyed all kids from different races. Because of the repetitive nature of the story line, children love to be read to and to join in and almost sing along. My favorite book of all time. Make your child happy.
