I was able to review this book before it was included in an auction for our Trout Unlimited Annual Banquet and I fell in love with it! I bid up to $225 before my wife asked me to stop bidding; it was won by a friend for $250. I am VERY happy to have bought this copy for $100!This is a history book of Bamboo fly rods and the men who made them, from the very first years. There are stories about the men who invented, and developed, everything involved with making those famous bamboo fly rods. If you care about who they were and what they built, this is the book for you.

Great book and reference for anyone wanting to learn more about vintage American Bamboo Fly Rods and makers.

As good as I suspected

A classic. Very informative about the history (and techniques) of the great bamboo fly rods, and the personalities of the men who built them. Mr. Keane brings the rodmakers to life and, to me, that's what makes this book special. I don't think Mr. Keane or anyone else could have written a better book on this subject. I just wish it would go back into print.
