Good book... very well written
Good book. Lots of good info. Very well written, and in a very clear manner. Lots of depictions to go with the reading material. I have a pretty strong feeling I will need more preparation for the written and the lab though... this seems like more of a high level design guide and I think I will need to go deeper into the technologies and, I know I will need to read many of the CVD guides from Cisco's website.

Absurd amount of grammatical errors and massive over usage of acronyms.
I would have given this book 5 stars if it were not filled with so many typos, grammatical errors and diagram inaccuracies. The over usage of acronyms is beyond ridiculous in this book. I had to re-read almost every section of the book due to grammatical errors and over usage of acronyms. Buy this book with an understanding that you will have to re-read sections due to lack of proper editing. This would have been a great book had it been properly edited. A major problem with having grammatical errors is that you may answer the test passing question with the incorrect answer.Really lazy approach for such and expensive paper-back book. This is certainly not what I would have expected from Cisco Press. Quite disappointing.

Worthwhile book for both general design and CCDE
TL;DR: Buy the book even with the errors any first edition book is bound to have. Reference the errata published on the Cisco Press site.-I bought the ebook version of this book after reading reviews that it had errors. As of 2016 May 13, none of the errata were corrected in the ebook versions contrary to what InformIT/Cisco Press told me was the case.Fortunately, most of the errors I've caught are in two categories (1) English/technical writing/style and (2) technical errors. The latter are easy to catch if you know the topic well enough; therefore, it doesn't detract at all. In fact, one of them was just amusing (Yes, the OSPF area was white "studdy" I must say.)The former class of mistakes may make one re-read the sentence/section over but again, doesn't detract from the material. Now, I'm quite OCD so I decided to edit the book myself correcting technical issues, adding some references, fixing the writing mistakes, and adjusting the style when needed. I also edited one diagram so far (as per the errata and a bit further). (Really, Cisco Press would probably love to have me review books gratis.)Regardless of the small errors, this is a fun, easy to read book that one can use to bind and guide CCDE and design studies and their related topics.

Good book, however I would like a source that truly helps you prepare an exam, in this case the CCDE written. It is probably only a quick reference.I have maintain my CCIE for 10 years and start to find Cisco's way tiring. If the goal is to play hide and seek with relevant information, then I would recommend others to pursue other certifications or degrees.

The CCDE Study Guide is a great starting point for those venturing down that certification path
Cisco introduced the CCDE (Cisco Certified Design Expert) certification a few years back to provide an expert-level certification in the design track analogous to the well-known configuration, implementation, and troubleshooting skills based CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert). For individuals wishing to prove their design skills, the CCDE sits at the top of the design-focused Cisco certification ladder. The CCDE Study Guide is a great starting point for those venturing down that certification path, and although it is on my radar, I’m currently pursuing the CCDP (Cisco Certified Design Professional) certification. I have found this book to be a good resource for that exam as I’m preparing for it. Cisco recently updated that track and there isn’t a study guide out yet.I’ve found the material to be highly technical, yet I haven’t had trouble understanding the concepts. I will say there are technologies and methodologies that are new to me, and I’ve been in IT for over 15 years. The more you know, the more you realize you have no idea!I would recommend this book to those pursuing the CCDE for sure, and if you want supplemental material for the CCDP, I’d say it is a great resource too.

Zufrieden

Really well written and good coverage of each subject
Wow! Really well written and good coverage of each subject. Not for the noob though. You will need a basic understanding of most topics from other sources to get the most of this book, but it packs a lot of info into a single book.

Really clear and concise book. Provides very clear guidance on design options for all the technologies you might use to produce Enterprise, WAN or Security designs. Excellent work and far more useful beyond being a guide to an exam. Very practical for everyday use.
