WOW
I already have 2 uprights in good working order but both are pretty heavy to push around so I thought I'd try the much lighter Shark Navigator. One of my uprights, a Kenmore 45922, was at the top of Consumer Report's list several years ago and it has a dirt sensor so I know you have to go over the same section of carpeting at least 3 or 4 times to remove all the dirt and dust. When my Shark arrived yesterday (assembled in less than 1 minute!) I decided to just give 3 carpeted rooms a quick once over ... I was appalled at how much dirt and dust was removed!! (If you have long-haired pets like my Irish Setters be prepared to have to remove some of that hair because it wraps around the roller bar and brushes -- I used a steak knife to cut it away.) Today I gave those same 3 rooms a thorough going over -- 4 back and forths for each section -- and the amount of dust and dirt removed was even more appalling than yesterday but at least pet hair wrapped around the roller bar wasn't an issue, presumably because that was all removed yesterday. One of my room's carpet is a very low level loop pile and moving the Shark around was a breeze (though the amount of dirt that was removed was a huge surprise -- either one of my other uprights should have been able to do that but they didn't!) I have a Frieze carpet in the other two rooms (highly twisted cut pile with fibers that curl in all directions) and moving the Shark back and forth was more difficult but thanks to the Shark's lighter weight this wasn't a deal breaker for me. I've never owned a bagless vacuum before so I don't know if the size of Shark's dirt cup compares favorably to other vacuum cleaners but it's so easy to remove and empty that I'm just happy that my bag-buying days are finally over. (All 3 of the Shark's filters are washable so my filter-buying days are also over!) I should point out that none of the many accessories I've accumulated over the years for my other uprights (brushes, crevice tools, etc.) fit the Shark until I tried the adapter that came with the "Micro Vacuum Attachment Kit" that I bought for $7.95 a while ago ... the adapter will allow me to use all of my accessories. Very happy about that. My only fault is that the hose is pretty short so be prepared for the Shark to tip over unless you choose to remove the canister from the base unit. I can't speak to the Shark's durability since I've only had it 2 days but I'm still giving it 5 stars based on it's ease of assembly and use and the awesome job it does removing dust, dirt and pet hair from carpeting.

Company replaced my 3 year old model few questions asked. Decent vacuum but consider your needs before you buy. Thank you shark
I bought this item about 3 years ago. I think the design is good and it has good suction, seems to really work well. I think I underestimated what grade of vacuum I needed; I have 2 cats, a dog and lived in the woods when I got it. It seemed to do a really good job going deep into the carpet, but the inner hose would get clogged and be very difficult to clear sometimes. Eventually the hose split inside the vacuum where the head pivots. I didn't really look over their warranty but got curious when I saw 5 years. I am not sure if this applies to amazon purchases or not, but in this case the rep was very understanding and helpful.I actually called just to order parts to try to fix it myself, instead the rep says she will give me a new vacuum under warranty and all I have to do is return the old one and pay $20 shipping. I see mixed reviews on customer service but my experience was far above average and credit should be given where credit is due. Shark is sending me a brand new vacuum and for that I thank them.On the actual product itself in this case I think it could be a great buy but if you have lots of pets I would go bigger. This product will certainly get the pet hair but the hose just seems to clog. If you don't have pets I just can't see how this won't meet your needs; it seems to really have good power. If you have the vacuum already and have the hose clogging on you, maybe vacuum slower and empty the canister often, also maybe make a few passes without the brush roller on so its not just cramming hair up the tube then turn the rollers back on for a deeper clean. If you are looking for a medium price point vacuum I think you should look over Shark and the reviews and I think if you go direct they opt you in for the 5 year warranty with no signing up.I am very happy that I hardly had to try to get a replacement vacuum; not sure what makes me special if others had problems but thanks again to shark. Very pleased that I don't have to invest in a new vacuum right away and looking forward to using it when it comes.

love this vacuum
I have been looking for a lightweight vacuum that actually vacuums! When I saw the Shark Rotator advertised on tv I looked it up on Amazon. I was impressed with what I saw and liked the reviews so I ordered it. It arrived yesterday, I was amazed at how fast it came. I used it for the first time yesterday and I love it! It does everything it says it will. It is lightweight, it picks up everything, the suction is fantastic. It was a snap to put together out of the box. I love that the buttons and knobs are very well printed so I can see what they are. I am 90 years old and this makes vacuuming so easy. It picks up every speck on my floors and also picks up dog hair so easily. I was thinking of buying a Dyson but I think they are so overly priced, so I went with this Shark and very happy I did. I highly recommend it. The price is right and Amazon makes it a pleasure to shop online with no shipping charges.

Amazing on carpet--BUT...
Really powerful and does an amazing job on carpet—but—this thing weighs a ton! I only have a couple of area rugs and probably 95%-98% of the house is hard floors—hardwood, tile, laminate—and it does a so-so job on hard floors. By the time I was finished vacuuming, I was exhausted. I ended up getting a little Eureka NES210 stick vac for my hard floors for about $25 and it does an AMAZING job. I have no problem having one vac for carpet and one for hard floors (actually what Consumer Reports recommends), but if I had known that was what I would end up with, I probably wouldn’t have spent as much as I did on this one.
