This worked great. We used this shear to cut out 6-inch holes in our corrugated steel for can lights in our ceiling in our grain bin house. The steel was too thin for a jig saw as it would tear easily. We tried using it to make long cuts for our pie shaped pieces, but it took too long compared to a metal blade in a skil saw. Also, cutting the corrugation, you had to learn to twist the shear to be as vertical to the metal as possible or the metal would spread the cutting jaws apart and not cut. There is a learning curve, keeping the shears perpendicular to the metal, and making curves takes a finesse. They do tend to smash, or wrinkle the corrugations a bit as tinsnips would, but if you have a trim piece, that should not be an issue. Otherwise, money well spent.

Love this tool it’s light and quick! I’ve started getting arthritis in my hands and this helps me do the heavy cutting which hurts my hands. Not that big and fits into my toolbag easily.

I used this to cut a bunch of rippled metal roofing to make planter boxes. Using this tool was much easier than tin snips or an angle grinder - I'll never go back. However, you have to get used to it: if you hold the tool at the wrong angle, it'll stop making progress. There's a certain "correct" speed for the drill (slow if you're cutting across ripples and need to guide it up and down, fast for straight runs). You have to be careful to hold the tool to keep the cutting angle just right (so that the shears cut cleanly), and the forward pressure just right (as you push it along the workpiece). I find I need to focus when using it. It's a two-handed tool - and a little finicky to use - so you'll want to clamp your workpiece to something when making the cuts. But it works great, and I'm happy I have it. Way better than the alternatives.

So I was confused by the instructions because of the round plastic shroud and most of the videos I have seen of these cutters being used. Knowing I could confidently put a round block in a round hole and a square block in a square hole as a child, I noticed there was no round anything on the cutters themselves for the round thing on the sheer guides. After looking up a bit more on here I saw that these were not the “corrugated” metal cutters, which does have the round part built on the sheets themselves. For me, this is acceptable enough. I know Malco products are quality because I own other tools of theirs and quite frankly all I needed was something to keep the cutters from spinning so I could use the cutters one handed. That being said. I think you could probably use a large rubber band or come up with another way to keep the cutting attachment from spinning if you wanted. Or you could spend the extra $50 to get the corrugated cutters which would allow you to switch from left cut to right cut. I’m a little irritated I guess but not enough to return them to get the round one. Just take your time when ordering this IF being able to switch cutting directions ( basically from red to green) means something to you. I’m a big believer that having the right tools, the right quality tools, makes the difference. If I’m going to buy it I’m going to get the best there is to make my job as easy as possible. Plus malco is a reputable company who makes quality tools. I have yet to order ANYTHING from malco and be disappointed. Which is a great feeling.

Ordered because I saw a coworker had 1. Thought it was neat. Still getting the hang of it. But really makes cutting tin sheets for ductwork easier than using snips. Has directions somewhere about adjusting the blades depending thickness of metal .. Glad I bought

I watched a number of YouTube videos on the various Malco Turbo Shears. I was trying to cut a corrugated metal water tank. I wasn't trying to cut over the valleys and ridges of the corrugation, I was trying to cut along either a valley or a ridge. I could only get about 2 or 3 centimetres ( an inch and a half), then it would jam, and I could not get it to cut any further. Very disappointed, as I bought it specifically for this one job. As it was made in USA and not China, I had high hopes. I guess if you were cutting a sheet of totally flat metal, that was clamped down, It might work okay. Also more practice might help. I had to resort to an angle-grinder instead.

I am an Hvac tech I have a lot more expensive electric shears. These work just as good for a fifth of the cost. They fit nicely in your tool bag and will work in any drill or impact which we all have already. I haven’t had them long but even if they only last a couple years it’s worth the money you can buy five for what I paid for my makita shears. They turn corners sharp and cut relatively fast. All in all I am happy with my purchase.

i have a small lists of tools that are indispensable and this is one of them. speeds up any cutting of sheet metal. cuts like the sheet metal is butter. amazing and easy to use.
