Apologies to my Grandma for her stinky towels
I hardly ever write reviews but this one is warranted and I need to say I was wrong and discovered something from a misunderstanding from childhood. So hang in there and let me give you a quick back story as to how I found this product and how awesome it turned out to be AND why I owe my Grandma an apology. When I was a kid my grandma’s towels and washcloths always smelled funny, I thought it was urine. I hated using them. When I left home I would even talk about it to people, that’s how much it affected my life. Not long ago my favorite detergent changed the formula and I didn’t like the smell anymore so I was on the hunt to make my towels smell good again. I started using a yummy fabric softener and it was going great until it wasn’t great. Gradually my towels and washcloths were starting to smell like my grandmother’s! I was in a panic, how can this be? I am not old, I don’t smell like urine do I? What is going on? So I do what most people do, use hot water and more fabric softener. It gets worse. Noooo! Now the dog is stealing my stinky washcloths and hiding them around the house. I decided I need the help of the internet so a quick search brings up Borax. Interesting because I have a box that I used to get rid of ants, and I currently use to clean the sinks, bathtub, toilet and shower. Hmmm. Instructions say to use 1 cup of white vinegar and 1 cup of Borax. Gross is my first thought, Vinegar! They already smell so bad the dog loves them. I decided I have nothing to lose but I refused to use the vinegar. Instructions on the box say to use 1/2 cup to sanitize, I used the measuring cup but didn’t pay much attention once I got past 3/4, I dumped in probably a cup not to sure I was desperate, pushed that hot water button, start and hoped for the best. When the cycle ended I was right there for the sniff test. I was pretty excited, I couldn’t smell anything, not even the detergent. Very impressed. They just smelled clean. Now the real test get a towel and washcloth damp. Holy#$&” I was ready to cry!!! no gross smell, no sour/urine smell, nothing. I let a washcloth sit on the counter for an hour and it still didn’t stink when normally it would chase me out of the bathroom. Literally I think the thing chased me it was so gross. Now back to Grandma. Turns out if you use too much fabric softener it creates a barrier and makes your towels waterproof so they never really get clean and the odors and smells just get trapped behind this fabric softener goo. The Borax will strip the fabric softener from your towels and they even become more absorbent again. (I did my research) Who knew? Not me, not my Grandma. My Grandma went through the same dilemma I did and as a spoiled brat I never knew that. I assumed she was old and just smelled. I am ashamed of myself. She is gone now and I can’t say I am sorry in person and tell her about this wonderful product. Sorry Grandma. So please if you made it this far in this review I assume you are looking for a solution for something awesome this product does. Try it!

What a MESS!
I've been using a large scoop in ALL my laundry for about 6+ months. It works to help brighten, clean and remove odors. It is USUALLY sent inside a plastic bag and then placed in the box with other subscribe & save items. This LAST TIME, it was just put in the box and with all the jostling of the box & throwing around, the seams of the Borax box split open ---- spewing the granulated contents on ALL THE OTHER ITEMS IN THE BOX. Not a good move Amazon!

Must soak, scrub, wash
Borax saved my white denim pant suit. Soaked and scrubbed over two days after hanging in the closet for a lengthy time. It''s back to snow white. Patience!
