Good Protection
The guage may be 100+ or 100- accurate, but its a good protection on my Small engine.

Low cost rpm hour meter
Not sure why so many negative comments here. The unit is easy to install, and easy to read. Although the setup can be a bit confusing at beginning, the instructions are fairly clear. Accurate or I am not sure as I do not have a standard to compare to. However I do feel the rpm response is fairly spontaneous. So far I like it.

Sweet deal
Too many options for me. I needed a rpm guage and hourmeter. I wrapped the wire around my first firing wire and boom. Perfection.

Easy to install, not water resistant
Do not buy, easy to install however does not perform as described, inaccurate, not resistance to water/moisture as described.

the jury is not in on this yet
I set my rating on the center star. I set it up as indicated in the instructions. Mounted it on my crash bar with a 3D printed clamp I made. I left the wire its original length and just took up the slack. I then wrapped it snugly, 5 full turns around the front cylinder spark plug wire.In doing the settings I came across the tach settings portion. I have a 4 stroke 2 cylinder engine. The settings state to use 1P1R for that motor. However "P" meaning pulse and "R" meaning revolution does not make sense. The wire is wrapped about 1 spark plug wire. So each pulse (or spark) should equal 2 revolutions of the motor. I know the engine idles at 1000 rpm and when it is set to 1P1R it was reading 2000 rpm, which doesn't make any sense. If 2 revolutions went by between pulses it should be reading 500 rpm. When I set it to 1P2R is was reading closely to what I expected. However, even though the engine is not changing speed, the reading would jump to over 2000 rpm, then back down to 1000. There is no other setting that would make any sense to me to try. So I question if the number of turns on the spark plug wire is efficient, needs more or needs less windings. Or is the unit just an inaccurate piece of junk?If it cannot simply calculate the number of revolutions by sensing the spark, how do I even know it is keeping time correctly without timing against it myself.I contacted the email address on the website for Run-Leader and it came back as undeliverable. So, there is no way to get any product support for this thing and as I found, nothing online regarding anyone else having an inaccuracy of this unit. I installed this for only one reason and that is to compare riding time to gas usage. There is no fuel gauge on the motorcycle and I was told this is the best way to gauge your fuel as to when you should stop and fuel up. Since it doesn't have a tachometer on the bike either I figured "okay, bonus, now I have one". But so far no stable, accurate readings and no help if there is an issue.I'll do my research and see if the run time is clocking accurately and if so I will continue to use it. I don't know if reducing or increasing a wire wrapping would make a difference. I have tried multiple combinations of settings and always have the same results. If I don't get the functionality I expect from this, I may as well just start a timer on my phone when I start the bike and stop when I shut it off and keep track of it that way. Then I can take this thing and incidentally flip it like a coin into the trash receptacle.I guess I will come back later and post my verdict on this thing as well as adjust my rating once I find out if it is actually going to work or not.

Eats batteries even with the backlight off. Don't let the battery run low or risk loosing hours
Expect only 3-4 months of battery life if the backlight stays off. When the battery ran low, I took my bike for a ride, then i went to check it later, the screen was off. After replacing the battery, the hours were reset to 0. This is unacceptable behavior for an hour meter, I think. I have a second of the same meter that was in the same state later. I started the bike and happened to notice that when the battery runs low, the backlight will flash, even if it is set off. This brown-out condition clearly is what is glitching the memory. Next time I am just going to get a simple hour meter.

No support! No instructions on how to set
No support! The website has a "Manual" that does not even cover how to set the thing up other than how to apply the Velco and wrap the sensor wire. Video at site is Adobe based so is no longer functional. Soooo disappointed!

Nice tach
I use it to tune the rpms on my snow blowers. Works well.

Very easy to install and works fine.
I had no problem hooking this up on my Yamaha 650 Custom. Seems to be very accurate and, yes, it can be turned off when not in use. Once you start the bike, the tachometer comes to life again and goes into rpm mode. When the bike is turned off the time displays. I just attached it to the cross member at the top of the forks. Great value for the money.

Most excellent!
This was my second one, I broke the first one trying to change the battery, through being stupid . .Second one, easy to set up for a 1cyl 2 stroke engine, it just works. No faffing required.Good display, clear, easy to read.
