Buy the book! You'll learn something new!
I am an avid reader of business and economic books (also I have a guilty pleasure for books about dictators, power and strategy) so its rare that I learn something new. Even with a degree in finance, this book taught me something new about economics that although I had some idea was happening, I didn't know to what extent and how damaging it was. The topics discussed in this book weren't even hinted at in my economics classes and I am very grateful for now having a better understanding of them. The book was so good I read it in one sitting which is rare because I have the attention span of a gnat. It's a great book but remember you should never just read something and assume its true. Do your own research; like I'm about to do since I finished reading last night. His concepts are plausible and from my current understanding of economics, I am inclined to agree with him. I will say though that the book gives some ideas on how to run a business that in theory sounds great but in reality, would be close to impossible to do (he does say it is almost impossible to do but that its something to strive for). Also, it talks a bit about advertising but his ideas are a bit outdated now that we have facebook advertising. It literally does everything he was theorizing about in a way simpler way. Still good information though. My last point is about customer classification which he touched on. If nothing else I would have read this book just for that section! He made some amazing points. The one thing that was hammered into me while studying finance was risk and how we should never look at what is making money but instead compare risk and choose the one with the lowest risk that yields the highest return (In my own words). He reinforced this idea when talking about customers. Not all customers are created equal and if you want to survive in business you need to focus on acquiring customers that are stable and have less risk in a bad economy.Godzilla is coming people be ready or you'll end up collateral damage (Humor based on the book)!!! Of course, you first have to believe Godzilla is even real. From everything I've read and seen over the years, I believe it's real but it's up to you to do the research and make your own informed decision. Don't blindly believe what people tell you.P.S. I'm not going to tell you what Godzilla is...Read the book. You won't regret it!

Worth an entire semester in college.
I bought these books for my kids. It's probably worth a semester in college (which costs me about 1000X more for 2 of them). This is another great Uncle Eric book. The only issue that I have with the book is the acronyms that Mr. Maybury uses tended to slow me down a little while reading it. But the whole point of positioning yourself or your business where the people with money are is really spot on, and great advice for any young adult entering or graduating from college. This book also shows the inequality that results from the government's redistribution of tax dollars. While reading this book, I looked up a website for government contracts, that the author mentioned. and was amazed (horrified). It really gave me great things to think about if I one day open a franchise/

Good for business investors
Pretty awesome book. The main argument is that to make money, you should position yourself in or near spaces that are about to get money poured into them. It would be most appropriate for an entrepreneur, but it's also good for anyone interested in investing in a business. Two critiques would be that he makes some dated and unrealistic suggestions about compiling lists of newspapers and the like, plus he keeps repeating the phrase "be a clipper" in every chapter.

Interesting but dullest of the original 9 book series
I have to say that although I have been captivated by Mr. Maybury's books for some time, reading each one in order. I found this one interesting only about half the time. Wehn I got half way through it I lost interest. It seemed to be going over and over and over and over the same old stuff which could have been imparted in half the time and half the pages, and just plain got boring. It simply did not hold my interest like the first seven. After finishing it, I picked up the "Thousand Year War" a little apprehensively to see if Maybury had lost his flare after the success of his previous books, as so many do, sort of like movie sequals that never meet or match the standards of the original, and luckily found that it was back on track with interesting, coherent information taht once again had me wanting to finish it in one setting.Mr. Maybury needs to work The "Clipper Ship" over and could easily reduce it by half.Of course I enjoy his work and will order the two follow on books WWI and WWII to round out my collection. All in all, he has made me a little bit wiser with this series and I still recommend it (all of them) to anyone who wants to understand the competing "models" that exist in the world and what makes the world go round.Jim
