Did not know this was a book of photos
Photo book, not much to read, bought the Kindle version, knowing what I know now I would have bought the paper copy. Good photos and descriptions.

This book does not disappoint!
This book is a great follow up to the previous book, "Goggles and Dust" . Thoroughly enjoy the addition of the notes section in the back of the book as well. A fantastic gift for my husband.

Great for the days when it's too cruddy to ride.
The photo of Rik Van Looy clenching a cigarette between his teeth in the '61 Giro makes this book worth the purchase price!

slap-dash production
this mini-size book should have been printed in normal book size with the photos enlarged to fill the page. to proportionately accomplish that, there should have been photo enhancements on the B&W shots, without losing the original quality and intent by the photographers. as a result, its slap-dash....too bad, because the photos provide a nice historical texture to that era. bad implementation hurts the product.

My son and I really enjoyed the selection of photographs
My son and I really enjoyed the selection of photographs. Their age puts into perspective how much pro cycling has changed over the decades.

Much enjoyed
I got this for my 76 year old bicycle-loving dad for Christmas. He spent several hours immersed it. A great book for bike lovers.

A Chance Missed!
Purchased a second hand copy of this book and was glad I did not pay the full price for it as I would have been even more disappointed. Nothing wrong with the quality of the book or the quality of the photographs, but I cannot help feeling that it could have been a whole lot better. For a book that is supposed to cover cycle racing in the 60's I think the selection of photographs should have concentrated on that. I would suspect that most buyers like me purchased the book hoping to get some good pictures of some of the stars of the road during the 60's riding the cycles of their day. Some nice side on photographs gives the reader a whole heap of information as to what cycle frames they were riding and what they were equipped with. But, what you get is a lot of pretty useless photos of the stars standing on podiums, in civilian clothes or just plain head scratching photographs that left you wondering why they were included. Some of the photographs are interesting, but again for some reason instead of putting the detailed description under the photograph they are in a numbered section at the end of the book, so you find yourself going backwards and forwards through the book as you are looking at the photographs. Very frustrating and a chance missed to produce a book on cycles, equipment and the riders of their day. Lucky it got 3 stars, which was purely because some of it was OK and the second hand copy only cost me £6-50.

For someone remembering that time period of bicycle racing this book is wonderful. And would ne, no doubt, for a younger generation interested in the subject as well. Furthermore the quality of the photos and the paper are superb. Highly recommended.

A great follow on from their previous book of this size
A well printed and presented book of cycling photographs from the Horton Collection. A great follow on from their previous book of this size, the two books cover the first half or so of the 1900s. Together with their book "Cyclings Golden Age" (a larger format book) they cover in photographs the earlier years of continental professional cycle racing. Three books you can pick up and put down at will.
