Essential Tremors: The Hand I Was Dealt

ESSENTIAL TREMOR NOT TREMOR(S)
The disorder is called ESSENTIAL TREMOR not Essential Tremor(s).The book had the things those of us who tremble deal with every day very well. The portion at the back would be good for recently diagnosed individuals to research. The authors listened and changed the name of the book. If you're newly diagnosed this book will give you info at your fingertips that would take a lot of time to research. Easily worth the cost!

Great read
This book was a great read. It is super informative with out being wordy. I bought this book just as research for a character, but I quickly became invested in Greg and Sue’s story. The writer did a great job bring their issues to life. I’d recommend it to anyone, not just people suffering with tremors.

An entertaining quick read
This book brings the reader right into Greg’s life. You begin to question those that you’ve seen in passing and silently passed judgement upon.It makes you understand the daily feats a sufferer must endure. The book is well written by someone with first-hand knowledge of the disorder.

You are not alone.
Essential tremor affects my family so I was drawn to this book. The authors, both men who have lived with tremors for years, used Greg's story to highlight the problems we all face. Greg loved fishing until he couldn't tie a hook to his line, or bait his hook. Greg lost his job and could not find another. The second half of the book had a chapter for each of the other medical problems we sometimes have.It is a good book. Buy two copies, one to keep and one to give to your doctor!

Great read, very informative!
For anyone with ET, this book will make it easier to discuss it with others, as well as being a valuable resource for tools that we can use to deal with the condition. For anyone living with someone with ET, this book will help you understand what your loved one may not know how to tell you themselves, and what they may need from you to help them cope.

Essential (!) for anyone somehow connected with Essential Tremor, patient or relative.
This is an interesting book. The biographical chapters describe Greg's journey into this common yet little understood (by the general population here in the UK at least) movement disorder. I have shown symptoms of the condition since I was 10 (in other words over 55 years). Thankfully I am not as severely affected as Greg is, though the rate at which it has worsened in the last 3-5 years makes me alarmed. These chapters certainly ring bells and I can affirm their reliability. The authors then go on to explore ways of managing and coping with the condition aside from medication and surgery. They also set out a number of secondary effects which can follow from ET. Again I can see, say from some Tremor related Facebook groups, that these are not uncommon. Some I relate to, the more severe thankfully not. The only aspect which I felt might have enhanced the book was a fuller exploration of the surgical options. I should be having an RF Thalamotomy at a London Hospital in a few weeks as I write this. Has Greg explored these or been offered them. Or does whatever medical insurance he has not cover such matters.
