There is more below your four tires than you think. For 35 years I traveled the general route of the canal making sales calls. Sure, I knew about the canal a little bit. Historical marker knowledge, nothing more. This easy readable book has enlightened me to all the facets of the canal and what it meant. I had no idea so many locks were needed. Each lock spawned a mill, a store, a saloon, a town. Water powered economy. Even if you don't read the book the hundreds of pictures are worth the price. Wonderful peek at the past. Party boats, freight boats, gambling boats, passenger boats and repair boats. Swim min' holes and fish in' holes. Heck, a catfish even saved the day. Good stuff, indeed.

Happy to have this one re the NW Ohio canals; my family has history connected to the canals. Donated one as well to my small county Historical Society.

This was a very enjoyable read, much more than a history of the canals. It was filled with wonderful anecdotes.

A great deal of information is conveyed in pictures and in the captions. It tells the story of the canal beautifully.

This is an unused book at great price. It did not ship as fast as an Amazon item (5-7 days), but that is fine with me.
