Short but substantial.
It is a good reference for some of the main problems in philosophy. Those who look for depth are not going to find it here, instead they will find a light but enlightening review of some interesting topics.

Very thought provoking and well written
Very well written. However, I was surprised by the short length of the book. I thought there would be more to learn about this subject besides the several examples given. Just as I was looking forward to reading more, it ended abruptly.

Well written, enlightening, and just a great read.
This is the first book by this author that I've read; I've had this one and one other in my library for some time, but I'm some what of a "hoarder" when it comes to books. I'm glad I got around to reading it, though. It was a quick read, as well as enjoyable. Some of the thought experiments and parables were familiar, some were brand new to me.I feel affinity with this author and their insistence that we all would do very well to stay ever aware of our own states of utter ignorance and question our own methodologies, judgements, and perceptions as much as possible. Think about thinking. Question your questions. These lines of operation are invaluable and should be taught at length in our schools.

I had hoped for a little more meat and not so much potatoes - -
Pretty light on content. The thought experiments were well know scenarios, and the content was discussion about them. I had hoped for some suggestions on how to pose thought experiments useful for addressing current issues.

Excellent book. Opened my brain up
Didn't know the brain to be conceptualized as a thought playground. I was brainwashed young to think all the answers were already out there, and all I had to do was to process/consume those answers and that's it, but boy was I wrong both about the outside world having all the answers and my limited intellect to have all the answers after reading this book. It showed how much of my thoughts are regurgitated from outside conditioning, my prejudices, emaciated critical thinking, and the lack of deliberate thought experimentation. Now I have the fire kindled....thank you author!

Enjoyable & Thought Provoking!
I enjoyed thinking of the experiments selected by the author. I found that reading this book felt like sitting down with a friend to discuss these experiments. Patrick writes to provoke you to think from both inside and outside the box as a modern day philosopher would. I am looking forward to reading more from Patrick.

Mysterious world
We all need to free ourselves from the bondage of feeling certain we really know ourselves or anything truly as it is.

Fascinating and perhaps played a large role in my inner peace and calm
This book is fascinating. It touched on points that I have heard of in my life but never really truly grasped them. Between reading this and watching my favourite sci-fi show "Star Trek: The Next Generation", I found myself pondering a great more than I usually do and I absolutely love it. I hope to continue this thought pattern and develop them accordingly.

Behind a word lies a complete Plato's cavern.
At first I thought it was another book of Einstein thought experiments, but after a while I realized the author was truly understanding the whole concept and even making me feel I understand too. It feels so open in his thoughts that I did not think I was reading but having a good dialogue with a friend.

A great, fun read!
This was a very well written and fun book to read, in addition to being super informative. It took me right back to my university years where I learned about the philosophers, but this was a way more user-friendly approach. It sparked great conversation between my husband and my kids and me, and has brought me some great insights into human behavior. I would definitely recommend it - but then again, I don’t know what’s going on inside your head or what you may or may not like ;)

Interesting
This book is more about phylosophy than mental models helping you to think. At first I thought it would be like the "great mental models" books serie. It wasn't but I enjoyed it anyway, thought experiments are a great way to ask questions and reveal our values, perception of the world around us, and I actually think they can be great conversation starters.

Good Read
New way of thinking about thinking explored. Few examples were also given to explore thinking and thought experiments, good 10-12 examples
