Down is still always leaking which is annoying and messy
I bought an older model a few years ago. Absolutely exceptional jacket. Down is still always leaking which is annoying and messy. I'm 6'2" and 170 lbs with narrow shoulders. Arms are long enough and it feels slimming, but you can wear anything underneath..room for tons of layers. Great design in every way. I would prefer a bit more wind resistance in the fabric. But it breathes well which is important for pre "dri down" jackets. Overall great design, looks good, unique, they thought of everything. Mine is a few years old, so maybe they fixed this down problem.

A step above micro baffles for the high street
I have other Montane products, and like them a lot, such as the original Montane North Star Jacket. In this case some combination of fashion, saving cost, and a very small amount of weight appears to be at play.This jacket did not work for me, due to:1. Hood. Simple bound hood, with no adjustment, but which lacks volume, so if you are wearing a hat the hood rides up the forehead2. Cuffs. Simple bound cuffs, but which are so tight, even with narrow wrists, that it is hard to pull a slim pair of mittens under them3. Body. There is no volume adjustment for the waist inside the hand pockets, meaning that you cannot adjust for body shape and layers
