Eyelets close well but punch does not fully cut through fabric. You have to complete cutting the hole with scissors

Trying to put these in nylon fabric. Numerous problems. After hammering, the front piece grips the rear piece fine, but not the fabric! Worse the whole lot is stuck to the tool, so you have to use a sharp knife to separate the work from the tool. This of course risks cutting the fabric. If you just pull it off instead, the grommet comes off the fabric (which it does anyway as it doesn't grip it properly). The problem is the tool is not shaped properly and the compressed grommet comes in to grip the tool as well as crimping over the other piece of the grommet.Ok, the way around this is to use a square of leather sewn onto the fabric and put the grommet through this.It might work ok with thicker tougher material like leather or canvas, but these are pretty thin grommets so I wouldn't be using them on those kinds of materials (unless it's just for appearance not functional).

Perfect for very light weight thin fabrics but the eyelets themselves are very thin not suitable for the items advertised ie tarps. The tools that came with the set are ok but struggled to make holes in waterproof cotton fabric. Wouldn't buy again

Did what I needed

After a highstreet shoe repair shop completely failed to fix new eyelets onto a much loved pair of leather boots, I ordered this grommet kit and had a go at replacing them myself! Great kit, easy to use and real value for money.

I used these to create the tied base of a pouffe that I made recently. You need a scrap block of wood to bang on, and protection for your ears while banging with a hammer, but I am very pleased with the end result.

Once we realised how to do it properly then they are good and worked very well and easy to use on the mat we needed them for.

Used to put eyelets in some builders bags for drainage, to use as temporary raised beds. The kit is easy to use, good value for money.
