Isle of Lewis Compact Celtic Chess Set 9 Inches

This is a lovely chess set! This item is very giftable! It is intriguing, with a fascinating history behind the Lewis Chessman!! SO VERY GLAD I PURCHASED IT!!! In my home it will be more for display than for play. (I have a large chess set that meets my playing needs due to arthritic hands.) Get it; you won’t regret it!! It’s charming!!!

The set is good quality and looks good but due to the packing being sub par my order arrived broken, I’m trying to glue it back together strictly because I don’t want to take the time to send it back and wait for that process

Unique gift for chess enthusiasts. The board and pieces are very small, the board is only 9" square, but very detailed. The storage for the pieces is nicely lined and offers excellent protection. The pieces have a good weight to them for their size, they are not flimsy plastic.

I like how heavy this set is. Unfortunately it’s tiny! The larger pieces are the size of one third of an index finger.

This chess board is so beautiful and arrived faster than anticipated. The pieces are so adorable and the whole board has a nice vintage sort of feel. If you can, purchase one for any chess lover!

it is the tiniest of all chess sets. So incredibly tiny that you can't fit all the pieces on it without all of them falling off.. It is a great decoration though.

This is beautifully made but read the description because it is only 9”. That’s the same size as a dinner plate. For the cost being $95 with tax I think this is overpriced for how small this chess game is. But my son was happy with it and loves it.

The look on my husband's face when he opened this as his Christmas gift told me I'd finally found him a perfect gift after all our years together. The details on the pieces are striking, and the weight is right. He and our son use it daily, as it doesn't take up a lot of room and is easy to keep out. The only downside is that our little one has taken to biting his shield when play fighting.

As a regular chess computer player, I bought this exclusive - write it down - "Made in England" chess set of the funny 'Celtic' Isle of Lewis Chessmen. Historians date these strange figures in the 12 th century and the originals are probably of scandinavian origin. Celtic or Scandinavian, who cares, this chess set has something that classic Staunton chess sets do not have, something historic/cultural, something special; The figures and chess board are very well made. Board in shape of Celtic cross, playing field is an imitation of a historic stone floor. Just great. Found a business card of the Regency Chess Company in the very well packed, brand new box. Showed the chess set to a few members of my family who do not even play chess. Immediately had to order an extra 2 sets. So, that proves that I'm not the only one to be convinced of the quality of this product for a quite affordable price. Amazon fullfiled its packaging duty perfectly, as usual.
