Review: Worthwhile investment - Bought a giant name brand TV for the family room but the sound was flat. A couple hundred bucks and a few hours later desertcart delivered this. Now there is actually some bass and you can actually understand people talking. Wish I had known a decade ago that something this simple and cheap makes such a huge difference in the tv watching experience. I did have a few issues with it crashing at first, but a little research revealed a setting on the TV that causes the issue and since changing that, it hasn't happened again. For myself I don't see any point in buying one of the significantly more expensive systems.
Review: In voice enhancement mode, it is PERFECT! Not cheap, but works perfectly for older ears - This has turned out to be a really nice soundbar for my purposes. I had been using a low cost nice and decent sounding speaker sold as a soundbar. The problem was too much bass. I live in a townhouse and I'm sure the boom of the bass was annoying the neighbor. So I decided to try a 'plan b". The Bose speaker is very expensive, yes it is. But what it does is allow you to turn the bass all the way down and do enhance speech mode. Helps me so much. I have hearing loss at the high end from a career that involved being at the gun range all my adult life. And the highs are suffering. Voices fall into that. This boosts the treble and the voices, so you can hear voices so much better. Momma always said life isn't always fair, that you have to pay so much to get that feature when there are cheaper options, but they are goofy in how they work and aren't reliable with connecting to HDMI-ARC, sometimes connect, sometimes not, can't turn down excessive bass, and can't boost voices, that kind of thing. Bose is perfect if you are in the same situation as me.

**Q: does this support 220v?**
A: Thanks for asking. The TV speaker can support 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz.

**Q: I want to use my tv remote to power the bose on and off and control the volume.  will the optical connection do this, or do i have to use hdmi?**
A: I was able to connect the Bose mini sound bar via optical to my Samsung TV and set it up to use my Comcast remote to manage the sound bar (volume and mute). I found the code on the Xfinity website, and followed their instructions to program it AFTER having used settings on my Samsung tv and chose the optical device as my output. I don’t think I can share the Xfinity link here but any search engine will get you to it. I believe 31933 was the 5 digit code that worked for our X-15 remote. Hope this helps!

**Q: Can you use with a sub woofer?**
A: Bose will tell you that you can only use their TV speaker with a Bose 300 or 700 sub woofer While that is largely true, you can use your Smart TV audio output in conjunction with any other sub woofer brand that will accept a digital/optical input. Connect your smart tv to the Bose TV Speaker using the HDMI/ARC input. Then, separately connect the other brand subwoofer with the optical cable directly out of your smart TV. In the tv's settings menu set the optical output to PCM (pulse code modulation) and you will have sub woofer sound. I, personally use a Bestisan Deep Bass Sub Woofer sold by Amazon for approximately $ 79 (cheap, compared to $ 300/- for the Bose) and it works fine. It also allows you to set Woofer volume and bass frequency separately. I am taking the time to write this out in detail because i am against brands with proprietary technology that just want to take your money. Everything should be open systems in today's technology!

My mom can finally her tv thanks to this speaker. She finally watches tv out in the tv room so I can play my games in the living room. I had bought her 2 speakers before and this one she compliments about the good sound. Was easy to hook up just don’t do what I did and put it upside down and say why won’t it connect. I got a great deal on it too it was cheaper than I thought it was going to be with the sell on it. It works well with my mom’s Vizio 58 tv with the hard wire. She isn’t to tech savvy so Bluetooth was her cup of tea she liked it bettered hook up to the tv directly. So it’s compatible with Bluetooth and hardwired.
