SCOTTeVEST Featherweight for Women - Lightweight Travel Vest - Safari Vest

My initial impression after pulling it out of the box was positive. The fabric feels nice and without anything in the pockets, the vest wears nicely and looks somewhat tailored. It was a little heavier than expected, I have another many-pocket vest that has more mesh and less fabric. I think this one would be too hot to ever wear in the warmer months, and by fall I'll be wearing my down vest.However, the real downfall of this vest is the location, size and shape of the pockets. And, the pockets are what I'm most interested in. I love having chest pockets and often have to order mens version of clothes to get them. Ideally, there would be at least one upper chest pocket inside where I like to keep my wallet for security, but there are no chest high inner pockets. The RFID pocket inside is lower down and inside another pocket making it hard to get a wallet in and out. I do like exterior chest pockets for quick access to things like car keys or change, but the two pockets you can see in the picture fall an inch or two lower on my body. The fit may work better on a tall lady, but not on someone 5'5". I would also like these pockets to open at the top instead of the sides so stuff wouldn't fall out as easily.The really big interior pocket inside is nice and roomy. I tried it out and I could manage to get an IPAD into it, though the vest was then so heavy and hung down awkwardly on that side so I couldn't imagine ever actually wearing it to carry around an IPAD. This large pocket was also on the same side as the exterior pocket with the water bottle loop meaning that anything big you want to carry inside has to be on the same side as the water bottle resulting in an uneven balance of stuff on the two sides. Also, once you put anything into any of the interior pockets, the neat tailored look of the vest is gone and you just look lumpy.Bottom line, this just didn't work for me.

Great vest...but believe the reviews...this vest runs small...Order up a size or two. I returned one and then reordered a size larger and it fit perfectly. (I usually wear a medium but had to order a large...it fit perfectly) BTW: my husband ordered his regular size and it fit perfectly. So it might just be the women's sizes that run small.

Very good quality. Excellent for travel. Do size up if you want to be able to put things like your water bottle in it and go completely hands-free, especially if you want to be able to fill it up and then zip it, as they do run too small for that.UPDATE: I originally gave this 5 stars but now that I have used it a few times I am giving it only 2 stars. The zippers constantly snag on the fabric. Way too expensive for the stress of trying to get your boarding pass or passport out and having to spend 5 minutes trying to get the zipper to open. Also, there is no seam across the top of the big pocket, so if you have something in it and fold the vest, whatever is in the pocket can end up around your shoulders. I have another vest from another company that was much cheaper that is turning out to be much more useful.

really awesome light weight vest and it holds so much without dragging me down. I so love it.. Great for traveling and not needing a purse, back pack for small things. I put foreign money in one chest pocket - american in the other - room key attaches into inside pocket. I dont' actually put a water bottle in there. I keep my passport in the inside upper chest pocket w my visa and my credit card. The silver lining prevents anyone scanning my boobs to get cc # ;-) Really comfortable.. A great item. Not too heavy or hot for tropical evening climate or early mornings in the tropics.

This is the 3rd travel vest that I've purchased from SCOTTeVEST. The main zipper broke on my first one, so I purchased the one with 42 pockets... but found that looking frumpy and bulky with so many pockets. So I purchased this one for travel to hotter climates. Now, after using it for my past 4 trips, I have the following criticism:The "featherweight" material is slightly puffier than their usual material... which causes the outer zippers to constantly snag on the fabric. The 4 outer zippers (especially the two down by the waist) were constantly getting stuck and got very annoying since that is where you keep the stuff that you often have to pull out. The pockets inside were better as they did not have a layer overlying fabric for the concealed look... so they never got stuck.I know there are people who don't like having fewer pockets... but the way I see it is this vest is for the absolute essential items without which you wouldn't even be able to fly home. So what are these essentials? Passport, wallet, keys, and cellphone. This vest can absolutely perfectly adequate for these items!If you want to carry around a water bottle, umbrella, camera tripod, sunglasses... just pack it in your backpack or purse! I cannot imagine why anyone would want to stick these larger items in the travel vest as well. Having said that, size up when you buy this as it will get tight once you stuff your pockets with things.Overall, I would buy this again... I just wish they could use a material that doesn't snag the zipper so easily.

This vest is even lighter than I thought, yet it has soooo many practical pockets!! My security gate nightmares are over! It would be nice to have some new funky colors to attract the young backpacking traveler or a mature colorful person like me.

I love the material and the color. I read several reviews before I purchased this and ordered a size up. Plenty of room for my stuff; kindle, ipod, phone, tissue, money and more. You can get away without a purse. I really like the earbud guides. Th!e material is great, looks slimming and hangs well. Great product!
