Excellent
Well-written, easy to follow, thorough, organized by various pain areas such as sinuses, lower back, hips, et al..., simple but effective illustrations, text is large enough to actually read without straining one's eyes; excellent book for in-home, do-it-yourself massage. Highly recommend.

The Techniques Were Effective For Foot Pain
I have found "Healing Massage: Simple Techniques to Soothe Pain and Find Relief at Home" to be the most useful book on the topic of therapeutic massage, at least for my beginner's level of knowledge. I found it clear and straightforward. I do have to apply myself a bit, but with practice, the techniques get easier. My first foray into healing massage with this book was my right foot. It had become so painful due to a stone bruise that I could barely walk on it. I found the section on massaging the feet as well as the section on treating injuries. After applying the techniques, I wasn't instantly fixed but the night after I used the massage I could literally feel the inflammation moving out of my foot. By morning, the pain was almost completely gone. Since then, I have found it effective on my Wife's back. There is a lot in here but it is not necessary to master it all at once. You can learn about your particular situation and practice that way. The book is easy to read and easy to navigate.

Recipe Book Style for Massaging a Guy Partner
This review represents my opinion, on the date(s) it was written, of a free product from Amazon Vine Program. This book looked like exactly what I wanted, based on the description, the preview and the author's page. However; when I read through the book, I felt a little uneasy that there were no overall diagrams for the female body; only for the male body. This happens several times in the book: the muscles graphic, the trigger points graphic, and the accupressure graphic. All the full body graphics appear to be adult males. No females. No kids. No pets. The information is presented in a sort of "recipe book" style. If you match up a specific complaint with a topic, you may find a massage routine that you can follow, which is intended to help alleviate the situation. There is also information about massage techniques, including a short section on aromatherapy. Although there is a brief mention of a few tools and techniques that may be used for self-massage, most of the book's "recipes" are about what to do for "your partner".The graphics which demonstrate the techniques and placement for each "recipe" show a variety of close-up views with male and female images, and these images clearly show what is being explained in the text. As I neared the end of the book, I had almost forgotten my surprise at the masculine-dominated muscle and trigger points full-body graphics. Surely there would be a full-body female graphic at some point ... especially with all the mentions about "your partner" in the "recipes".When I finally got to the end of the book, there it was again; a full-body male image of acupressure points (which may be seen in the preview). Although there is a theoretical discussion of acupressure, this is a stand-alone graphic without detailed explanation about the points noted on the graphic. However; the points are included in some of the "recipes", so at least you know where they are, and the basics of acupressure theory. Is that good enough? You decide. If you want a holistic massage book, with full body images that include both male and female, and maybe a little more information throughout the book about how massage techniques may be modified for children, as well as options for self-care with each "massage recipe", you may want to just keep on shopping for a very different massage book.If you want a lot of recipes for how to massage a partner in response to a variety of specific complaints, and perhaps if you especially prefer full-body graphics which only depict adult males, this book may be written just for you.

good book
Having to stay home during COVID-19 crisis, I thought it'd be prudent to learn some massage techniques, manage my pain and possibly help my family. This book is exactly what I needed: it's easy to understand, and covers everything from the common trigger points and terminology, to basic tecniques and some self-massage tools. It tells you how to manage expectations and work on different groups of people from babies to pregnant women to seniors. It talks about different types of pains and ailments and offers practical solutions that don't need expensive fancy tools - your hands (and maybe a frozen water bottle) is all you need!A lot of things the book talks about are so simple, but I wouldn't have thought of them myself!
