Singer50003 ProSeries Retractable Tape Measure, 96-Inch, Teal

Needed this mostly for small measurements, since glove sizes and the like always have dimensions you can't measure with a ruler or regular tape measure.It's a fairly narrow design, with easy to read numbers and marks. The standard of the tape actually comes after the tip of the tape, make it way easier to get an accurate measurement. Other soft tape measures seem to have a questionable first inch/mm due to manufacturing, so no worries with this one. Has a plastic bit at the start, so it's easy to hold, and a button on the side to retract.My only complaint might be that the plastic construction feels cheap, but I know this is a very cheap tape measure. I'm not a heavy user, however, so overall durability isn't a huge concern for me.

update: just realized the other side of the tape measure measures millimeters! helpful because i needed millimeter measurements to buy the right size ring!!! still love this and use this daily, it's holding up very well. if i had more money i'd buy a hundred of them bc i'm always losing things.i'm a bit obsessed with tape measures. i feel like i always need one for something. i have the old fashioned wooden kind that you have to unfold, i have the standard carpenters ones, i have the fabric tape measures that aren't retractable and just lay around like lazy snake. for tasks where i dont have to measure very long things (where i'd need a tape measure that stays stick straight and doesn't move), this one is my favorite. it's easy to maneuver, retracts VERY smoothly, is a gorgeous pink, and is portable enough for me to keep in my purse. i love that i can just pull out the tape when i need it quickly, no flopping around - with a non retractable tape measure, i have to find both ends, make sure i have it on the right side, etc etc, it's a hassle. with this, i just pull it out and know it's starting at 0", and i can stop pulling when my other hand has reached the end of whatever it is i want to measure. then i press the button and the tape measure just glides back in, neatly. all of these little things saves me seconds, and saves me confusion, and makes my task fun. and it's cheap!! i wish i had gotten this years ago and will order more.

This is the best soft measuring tape ever! It's retractable just like the metal ones that mainly men use on their projects 😋!! I even like that bright pink color on the one side. Makes it easy to find if I misplace it, and it's a pretty, feminine tape measure. You pull it out and when you reach the end of what you are measuring, pull slowly and it will click in place. I love that cuz sometimes I have too much going on at once, I'll measure it, then when I need that number, I've already forgotten it! I didn't plan on it, but it turned out to be great that it was a 2-pack. My daughter came over to help me open the Amazon boxes, and put everything away. I had ordered a lot that time. But the funny thing was that when my daughter pulled the measuring tapes out and opened the package, she put one in the bag cuz she knows where I keep it, and she put the second one in her purse! I had planned on asking, after my order arrived, if she needed one. Well I didn't even have to ask! 😋 I'm disabled and bedridden, so I keep what looks like a makeup bag on the tray table by my bed for all my little goodies. This tape measure is lightweight and slim, and it's amazing how often I use it! I even remember when the only cloth measuring tapes were3-foot, plastic-coated strips by about 3/4" wide. Finally a fabric measuring tape that is a pretty pink, easy to use, and easy to store!

I don't know why I thought this had a metal housing. I bought it for that reason but it's all plastic. It still works well, I just really wanted that metal housing!

I purchased this to replace the cheap little ones that you can find everywhere. I love it because the tape is really soft and flexible and is much longer than the standard cheaper variety. However, be careful when you wind it back in. Don’t just click and let it whip closed. Just like the cheap one, the end is finally starting to rip off. So now I keep the tape rolled out a little to prevent it from getting worse. Otherwise, l love this tape measure. I will buy it again once the end of my current one is gone.

I used to always carry a retractable tape measure on my purse (even in nursing), and I like the fact that Singer has a nice long tape measure ~ a whole 96” in length. The case is made of a sturdy plastic so it won’t crack like many of the majority retractable that are made of plastic. The plastic ones are only 60” long and I keep those at home for sewing. However, I never knows when in public what I’ll need to measure so the additional length comes in handy. In the hospital nurses and I would needed to measure the girth of a patient’s limb for example. And having the metric increments of mm and cm on the adjacent side really helps.As you can see from the front picture, on the side is a little button where the measuring tape comes out. Then the retractable button is on the back. As you can see I’ve learned to carry it with my car fob so I have it with me at all times and others can’t accidentally forget to return it to me.

As a big girl it's not always easy to find ways to measure yourself - that is where this tape outdoes the rest. This tape has a little handle on it making it easy to get ahold of with arthritic fingers. As you pull it, it does click (quite loudly i may add), but it also locks into place. This means that it won't snap back during measuring. This also allows you to move the tape from where you are measuring and read it easier (bifocals don't always cooperate at every angle). The push button to retract the tape retracts slowly, which means less chance of getting slapped by the tape measure (thank goodness). Definitely a great product for those who have mobility issues, but still sew and do crafts that require mesurements.
