Good SCD book!
I'm so glad that I purchased this SCD cookbook. Some of the other ones I purchased call for more expensive ingredients -- which can be hard on the pocket, even if they're tasty. Lucy's SCD cookbook is more reasonable, and includes one recipe from Elaine Gottschall (who helped spread the word about the SCD, and Dr. Haas, who developed the diet). It didn't take hours for me to prepare (the majority of) meals from this book. Recipes (for the most part) didn't ask for extravagant ingredients. I like that it's tiny, spiral-bound and easy to flip through to find a recipe while cooking. I've already made several recipes from the book (all in one day). I've already made the Eggplant and Vegetable Lasagna (delicious), the Italian Tomato Sauce, and the Chiles Rellenos Casserole (which reminds me of a fritatta). The price range for most recipes are down-to-earth, and affordable, which I like. And they're also tasty too.Only thing is that I wished Lucy included were some of the basic recipes (like mayonnaise, etc;). Some of her of her recipes call for mayonnaise. Although I know it's in the original Breaking the Vicious book, but it would also help if it was in hers as well.

Great cookbook!
Excellent cookbook. There is a good variety of recipes and they are easy to follow. Lucy is a long time scd veteran and has graciously provided this awesome resource to us all. Finding a variety of recipes on this diet takes time. I wish i had known about and purchased this book one or two years back. Thanks lucy!!

Great cookbook, worth the money
This cookbook is unassuming but definately worth the buy. I bought this along with Grain-Free Gourmet and loved them both! This is full of delicious recipes, of which I have made several. The breads are delicious as are the dressings. My kids love the lemon yogurt muffins (I add fresh fruit to them before I bake them). Dawn's Lime Frozen Yogurt is really good too (I just added a little coconut flavoring to it). I follow an SCD diet and everything is safe and easy to make. The ingredients are easy to find, the recipes are simple and in most cases are quick. This is a keeper!

recipes are very tasty
It helps so much to have good recipes when you are on the Specific Carb. Diet., otherwise I think it's difficult to do this diet.

An approach to intestinal health
If you have any type of autoimmune disease or intestinal problem this book helps with the Specific Carbohydrate Diet approach to health along with recipes to help recalibrate the gut. Physicians are most likely to prescribe drugs and do not usually understand the importance of diet in fighting intestinal problems; however, diet is the only way to achieve long-term relief. This diet takes work but is well worth the effort.

A good resource
This book is a good resource for folks looking into the SCD Diet. I thought the book was good but it needed more basic foods that kids would like and perhaps more info. on the diet. I think this would be good on anyones shelf along with a couple of other SCD Diet books. I would have liked to have had more info. on her life on the diet as well. The other books I have share more on their every day eating.
