Will Shortz Presents I Can KenKen! Volume 1: 75 Puzzles for Having Fun with Math

started doing ken ken then our 10 yrs okd grandson became interested in it and i ken ken book was handed over to him. he loves his math class and excels in it and this book will enhance his calculations without use of calculator for multiplications or divisions nor his fingers for simple subtractions or additions.

This is a terrific book of math puzzles for kids. They start of easy (using only the numbers 1, 2, & 3) and get harder (using the numbers 1-6). I bought volume 2 for my 9-year-old to keep his brain active over the summer. He LOVES it so I ordered this one, and volume 3, too. These puzzles are great for problem solving and critical thinking. The puzzles are similar to sudoku (sp?), but not quite the same. It says this book is for kids ages 9-12, but I think my son could have done these when he was 7 or 8. He has an EXTREMELY mathematical mind. If your child is older (11-12) and also has a mathematical mind, you might try some of the kenken books for adults. I highly recommend this book!

"I Can Kenken vol. 1 " is a great little book for kids, especially those about 8 or 9, but adults like myself can also have fun with it. There is an introduction with instructions and hints about how to do kenken. The 75 puzzles start off very easily using only the numbers 1,2, or 3 and gradually progress to using 4, then 5 and finally finish with numbers 1 through 6. The whole book uses addition as the only operation and each kenken puzzle is rated from easy, to moderate to difficult. Although it's quite easy for an adult, I've still enjoyed using "I Can Kenken Vol. 1" and have quickly progressed to more difficult Kenken puzzles in other books. So, now "I Can Kenken" too. It's probably best for kids, though.

Purchased this for my wife who loves word puzzles and Sudoku. Recommend starting with the easier ones first till you get the hang of it and then move to the harder ones. If you like Sudoku, good chance you will like these also. Okay honey, I wrote your review, now can I have supper?

Sent to grand kids. They enjoy doing these and feel great accomplishments when they get the math puzzles figured. Helps them do better in school.

i got this for my nephew (12years old) when he was coming to visit me. He had never done kenkens before. He quickly became as hooked as I am and we spent so fun nights out on the porch with our kenkens

Teacher everywhere, this is a great warm up for all subject areas. Students feel challenged and flattered by the puzzles. A great trick for making classrooms manageable.

This is a mind using puzzle book with good directions and easy to read and understand. Good for keeping the brain working in a thoughtful way.

Bizarre ! You open the front cover and the book is upside down and back to front. Strange - is this the first puzzle? Prompt delivery though.
