Works fine but gone from aluminium body to plastic ,used to lay my soldering iron on it now I can't

It sucks.....
About half of the times that I've used the solder sucker it has exploded in my hand with the blue piston half popping right out. The blue plastic piston half has a couple of small bumps that locate in 'L' shaped slots in the lower aluminium housing and the two parts frequently disengage when you press the button to suck the molten solder. That said it does suck the solder but its an un-necessary and time consuming job reassembling the solder sucker every time.i'd thought about pinning the two parts to prevent them seperating so much but thats a pest too as you would want to get in there to remove the solder debris fairly regularly. It wasn't an expensive tool but in hindsight I wish I'd spent a bit more and bought smarter.UPDATE. I've just modified the 'L' slots to 'J' slots with using a 2mm drill to mill a return at the bottom if the 'L' - it only took a couple of minutes to do and I think that it's a big improvement with the tool now not wanting to ping apart after every use. I wish that they'd made it like thus in the first place...it wouldn't have cost any more but would have been a better product

Just buy soldering wick
Don't make a great seal against the board and they have a tendency to suck the pads and components clean off the board. Just buy the wick .

Nice Product, Great Price
I haven't needed the desoldering braid so far, but it looks pretty standard. The solder suckers work great. I find them easy to use and they seem to have adequate suction to do the job intended. As with all similar devices, solder chunks and dust will accumulate inside. Periodic cleaning and lubricating is a must to keep them operating at peak condition. This is easily done and only takes a few minutes. If using leaded solder, you should be aware of the dangers associated with all the solder dust which will accumulate during the use and cleaning of these devices.

The plunger sucker works great. Not the braided sucker
I like the plunger sucker but I don't like the braided sucker. It doesn't seem to suck it up.

The desoldering braid didn't seem to work as well as other brands I've used - really hard to get it to pick up the solder.

Best deal for the price
Received item as described and on time. Build quality is better than expected for the price, and suction tip did not melt against my 60w iron. Wick braid is pretty standard.
