Exciting read!
This is one of those books that I can picture as a movie; the writing is descriptive and it gave me a really good image of the story in my head. It's a spy novel, but more than just that. You learn about a lot of characters and how end up where they're all at. The best agent of the MI6, Blanka, is super tough, yet has a failing kidney and undergoes dialysis on a constant basis. What a badass! She's a very strong female. But I also enjoyed her quaint home with her pink teakettle. I suppose if you go around assassinating people for work it's nice to go home to a cute little cottage with a garden and your very own beehive!.Then you have Felicity, the "bad guy" agent; she's always looking for someone to sleep with and at the same time might rip off his or her arms with just a tiny flick of her fingers if she's pissed off! There are many more colorful agents in this book that round out the characters..Metapox 1 takes place in London, as the spies are working with a defected Russian. They want him to create a vaccine for a horrific, country-wide genocide virus that can be used for germ warfare. He actually was the one who created it, back in Russia. But other agents want him to make it again, so that Britain has the germ warfare weapon as well. There's plenty of intrigue involved here with the agents on different sides....There are also a lot of WWII and Auschwitz references while Blanka vividly dreams during dialysis. I studied a lot of WWII in college, so I enjoyed the historical parts, although they were very sad. This book isn't very long, but there is a lot packed into it!.Metapox 1 is the first in the series. The author, Raechel Sands, leaves some parts of the story unanswered. I look forward to reading what happens in the next book!

READ THIS -- Excellent debut thriller
Bravo Rachael Sands! A riveting, smart, fast-paced international espionage thriller with complex female leads. Brilliant --- I loved the historical and literary references woven through -- for any who want to dig deeper. So much presented here to unwind in the sequels. The last scene of Metapox 1 is edge-of-your-seat chilling. Whew! Looking forward to the sequels. Sands made a remarkable debut here. Highly recommended.

Fascinating synthesis of contemporary spy thriller , conspiracy tale and ancient mysteries.
Aside from a few "would the heroine REALLY do that?" moments, a fascinating synthesis of contemporary spy thriller , conspiracy tale and ancient mysteries. The series has "Blockbuster Franchise" written all over it.

"...to spy on those who spied on his spies."
This, the first in what promises to be an excellent ongoing story, is an exciting and funny tale of spies in a top secret agency, which still manages to retains a feel of total authenticity. Well written and visually satisfying. This edition is also very attractive in it's presentation. I'm looking forward to part 2.Recommended.

Move over Killing Eve!!
This is a pacey thriller, a real page turner. I simply couldn’t put it down! The sentences are short and punchy and there is a filmic quality to the writing. The shifting locations are very James Bond, and Jason Bourne. The viral theme seems very topical with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic!!
