Dryad Design make some of the most detailed
Norse items I've seen anywhere and for an inexpensive price.I guess the reason they can do this is because the items are all manufactured in China but the design is by Dryad whoever the hell that is.I'll tell you this , I study the runes and their all over Dryads Norse items and they are very accurate. They are Elder Futhark Runes. This statue is small but it looks like it's carved out of wood by some Norseman in Scandinavia.I read another review from someone else on Amazon and they said Dryad's going out of business , I hope it's not true because the Viking statues I see being made now are totally ridiculous looking, the stupid horns that appear on every statue that comes out now appear to be getting bigger and bigger and the Vikings all look like their on steroids. Also I've read that back in the day's the First Viking raids into England took place the average height of a Viking was about 5'7" to 5'8"and the average English man was 5'4" to 5'6", it's only in the movies now that the Viking's appear to be as tall as black basketball player's, they were not Nordic giants that all looked like Vladimir Kulich in the 13TH Warrior, and they did not all have blond hair. Thats just another stereotype like the "FN" horns.Hail Odin!!!!!!!!!!

Juuuust right
Great quality. Runes cover this statue. Stylistically, I prefer something more shamanistic and less "flashy" when it comes to my statues. It's easier for me to work with something that doesn't look like a Barbie doll because those Barbie doll statues might be more detailed, when it comes to hair, eyes, mouth, etc., but it means the way I perceive the gods might be limited by those exact details. This statue is right for my purposes in that it doesn't limit me and is just a nice piece of art. This is a good size. It goes on my office shelf perfectly but isn't so tiny that you can't see anything. Great piece!

Made in China
Made in China. I was surprised to see that sticker on the bottom, but I suppose I shouldn't have been. The thought of a Norse God's likeness being rendered in a Chinese factory just takes something away from it and makes it harder for me to connect with in any meaningful way. It's just a decor item for that reason, nothing more.

Looks like wood, but it's a actually a hollow polyresin.
For $40 this should be wood. I had to double check on the listing, guess I should've paid attention. Dropped it and the head snapped right off. Superglued it back on but still...
