This Heimvision doorbell is pretty good. The video and picture quality is great. You can choose between SD and HD. I like that you can use a micro SD card and don't have to pay for cloud service. The motion detection works great. You get notifications right away also. The chime is almost instantaneous. I will say there is a lag of second ortwo when someone is at the door. I have a strong wifi around the house too. That's why I am only giving 4 stars. Night vision works great but it focuses right in front of the camera and loses the surrounding visibility. It must be the location of where my camera is placed. Other than that, its a great doorbell camera. The battery seems to hold good. Hence, I just used the battery instead of direct power source. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a decent one without the high price tag or costly monthly fees.

I looked at many doorbell cameras (including RING, etc). This is why I think this is the BEST:* Nice 1080 picture.* The app works great. My wife & I can see the camera at the same time.* The app has NO LAG for us. When someone walks into the camera path, we can see them immediately. We can hear them talk or talk to them immediately.* STAYS PLUGGED IN (no charging & recharging necessary). This is BIG BIG BIG. We can plug in while attached to the wall to charge the battery (or just keep plugged in). Most other doorbell cameras plug into the the BACK of the device so it can't stay plugged in & against the wall. So you have to take the battery out to charge and NOT have a camera for a while (or have to buy an extra battery). Their plug is in the back of the camera so it cannot be installed against the wall & be plugged in.* The Bell works great, and you have a choice of different chimes.* Easily connects to WIFI. This needs to be connected to WiFi to work (just like the others).* CAN USE ON RV's or Homes. We use this Doorbell Camera on our RV Camper, and it easily attaches, comes off while we drive, and easily reattaches. We keep the holder frame attached to the RV when we drive & it stays secure. We can keep it plugged in when attached on the RV and our outside plug is by the camera. It is easily viewable by guests, and whenever someone walks up we see them & it records a short video on our phones for security. When someone rings the doorbell, our APP opens immediately & we see them & can talk.* EXCELLENT SELLER - who stands behind the product if you have any issue. We had an issue, and they handled it immediately. We absolutely love this doorbell camera.

This review is not based on product performance, as I just received it today. I am going through the setup process and the instructions say it will take 10-12 hours for the battery to reach full charge. In the meantime, I decided to go ahead and setup my HeimVision account, activate the doorbell, and sign up for a cloud subscription plan. Oddly, this device is not listed as a compatible device for one of their cloud plans. Even more strange, this smart video doorbell is not mentioned anywhere on their website at all. And stranger still, it does not show up when I do a Google search for "HeimVision Smart Video Doorbell". I do not know what to think. This is mysterious. Is this product so brand new that it is still in the beta stage? Was the product pulled from prod and is no longer supported? I emailed HeimVision support and am waiting for a reply.UPDATE: I received an email reply from support@heimvision. They walked me through the steps to setup a cloud plan - which can only be done through the app. They told me that the HMB1 doorbell is a very new product and that is why it is not yet on their website. I am accepting this with a healthy amount of skepticism. For now, the doorbell and cloud subscription is functional. After using this video doorbell for over a week, I must note that there is a lot of noise while watching the video. The noise is odd. Almost like loud chewing and tearing. If you are imaginative, it sounds like a large creature or monster is eating something right outside your door. I just mute the sound when live monitoring or during cloud playback.

Original review- The motion detection simply does not work correctly for humans at any reasonable distance. Not in the day, not at night, with or without the porch light on I can zig zag around the yard or walk straight at it and it doesn't detect me until I'm 6" from the doorbell. Sometimes it doesn't record me until I am actually opening the door. It recorded the Amazon delivery person walking away in perfect lighting conditions, they triggered it as they bent down to deliver packages. But it does pick up the neighbors truck across the street or record for nothing at all...The HD image quality is good, the video doorbell does function when pressed, but I'd like to see the people that don't want to ring the bell..Edit- the company reached out to me and sent me a new doorbell to replace it. Unfortunately I'd already purchased and installed anther brand but I tested this one out a bit and the motion appears to work much better. The installation book said install at 5' but I think that's a bit high (particularly if your porch is above the front walkway) and it could really use a wedge or angle plate option. At minimum, they are proactively willing to assist in resolving issues which earned a couple stars back!
