Thin but designed /fit for purpose - a low cost way to mount a 2.5 inch SSD into 3.5 inch HDD bay
Bought this to fix an Integral 2.5 inch SSD into a 3.5 inch HDD bay of a Dell Studio PC.My PC fixes the HDD in the bay by screwing into the side of the conventional HDD frame. I therefore needed an adapter which could be fixed into the PC by screwing into the sides. This is a excellent value package which includes two mounting adapters and screws. FOR THE PRICE POINT ( £3.99 for two) this represents good value.A key lesson for me was that this functions as a CONVERTER not a BRACKET (a converter will transform the mounting hole position profile of a 2.5 inch SSD to the mounting hole location profile of a 3.5 inch HDD. A bracket will just provide a means to fix the SSD to the bracket and also some number of mounting holes which can be used to fix the bracket to the computer case). In the PC I was upgrading I needed a converter which would allow me to mount the SSD into the case using the holes/fixings used for classic 3.5 inch HDD. So it is important before buying to look at the internal metalwork of your PC to determine if a bracket or a converter is required.Observations/things to consider1) THIN SHEET STEEL: The converter is made of very thin sheet steel. The steel is surprisingly thin. Measured thickness using a micrometer is around 0.59mm That is just over half a millimetre thick. My best suggestion for a comparable thickness might be just a little bit thicker than the steel used in a tin of soup or similar foodstuff.2) FIT FOR PURPOSE: Even thought the steel is surprisingly thin the converter is fit for purpose and is an excellent solution. My SSD is extremely light and does not need a heavy duty fixing. Although thes converter feels flimsy it holds the SSD well and fits into the HDD bay securely2) HOLE POSITIONS: The “2.5" Hard Disk Installation Frame to 3.5", replicates the hole positioning profile of a HDD case. The side hole positions match the profile of a classic HDD3) SCREWS: All necessary screws are provided. It should be noted that the SCREW THREADS ARE NOT THE COARSE THREADS OF THE SCREWS USED TO MOUNT A CLASSIC 3.5 INCH HDD. This may be a problem if your case mounting requires you to use special anti-vibration screws which have a coarse thread. I believe that a FINE THREAD is used on the metal work of the SSD mounting frame because the metal of the frame is a thin gauge steel (not aluminium of a 3.5 HDD) and a coarse thread cannot be used.It should also be noted that the provided screws are countersunk. Dome headed would work better. As the SSD is light I only needed to tighten the fixing screws just a little more than finger tight to obtain a secure and solid fixing. See my warning below about over tightening.4) TAPPED SCREW HOLES. The three screw holes on each side of the plate are tapped to take the fine thread screws provided. The screw thread used on the plate is the same as the screw thread used in the SSD fixing holes. On my plate the tapped side screw holes benefited from a slight cleaning of the threads by screwing one of the provide screws into each hole in turn. However, the threads were still a little tight. Also being very thin metal overtightening the screw might strip the thread so I took care to tighten only a little more than finger tight. Because the thckness of the still is so thin and thus the thread length very short I am also not sure if the threads would survive multiple screw extractions and reinsertions. But I dont expect that to happen.4) BACKPLATE MOUNTING: There are no holes in the backplate itself. Hence if you need to mount this in the case by screwing into the backplate per se this frame will not be suitable. In such cases I have used a Goobay 93990 2.5" Hard Disk Installation Frame to 3.5"I note that some reviewers have marked this down because they claima) A 3.5inch HDD does not fit inside the bracket - it is not designed for a HDD!b) They stripped the screw threads - heavy handed installation is probably the cause of this not the quality of the item.c) The screw threads used on the plate are not the same as the screw threads used on an classic HDD - this was a very common complaint which in my view explains more about the reviews mechanical knowledge and ability than the quality of the item. The screw threads cannot ever be the same as used on a classic HDD as the converter is of steel not aluminium and is thin gauge. In Summary. If you are looking for a "CONVERTER" which converts a 2.5 inch SSD into 3.5 inch HDD frame and which replicates the HDD frame profile exactly this is an ideal LOW COST solution. I have used more expensive solutions made of thicker steel but this does the job just as well.

Converts HDD to SSD
Worked perfectly to allow SSD into a housing previously occupied by a HDD. Cheap and functional.

Suitability depends on the internal layout of your P.C. The screws supplied are self tapping.h
Securing a 2.5 cm SSD in place of a conventional disc drive.

Does the job.
Purchased a new solid-state drive and needed a mounting bracket for it.This fitted perfectly.Came with all the bits it needed.Seems well-built and of good quality. All in all, a decent purchase.

Easy to install SSD drive, and to fit into older HP tower (8200 SFF)
I needed this to keep my new Samsung EVO SSD drive secure in my machine, which is a slightly older HP tower (8200 SFF), as I didn't want it moving around too much if the PC unit is lifted. The screws fit perfectly into the drive, and came with extra screws I didn't end up needing, but still nice to have. Very satisfied with the product. Reasonably priced.

Flimsy
This is made of incredibly thin metal and is therefore very flimsy.I ordered two and one arrive slightly bent, which is not surprising given that it takes literally no force to deform it.I managed to restore it to its shape but even picking it up one has the impression the tray could bend under its own weight.Once installed it is probably good enough if you leave it be, but if you plan to take the drive in and out of your case, I would recommend something better.

Does what it says on the tin!
A number of reviews of these hdd to ssd trays say they flimsy or bent when received. I have to say that mine are neither flimsy nor bent! For me these are incredible value for money. Once in position they hold an ssd perfectly solidly and, contrary to some reviews, all the screws fit. Nothing more to say really, the do the job they were designed to do, and at the price there is nothing to lose!

Good value as adaptor - careful on Dell Desktops
Good, cost effective adaptors with plenty of screws. However, be care when using on Dell Desktop PCs and the Dell disk drive plastic carriers use drive locating pins that would it in the HDD screw holes. The Trixes mounting kit has "screw" holes slightly smaller than the supplied screws to offer a bit of resistance to the screw thread tapping the hole. The Dell locating pins are slightly "oversize" for the hole and won't locate. Sorted the problem by drilling out the mounting fram hole with the next size up drill bit. All fine. Then you need to work on the fiddly threading of the Dell cabling for power and data.

Serve allo scopo
L'articolo è in lamiera molto sottile e facilmente deformabile, ma svolge bene il suo lavoro, in fondo è solo un supporto.
