Just installed it today. We have a small dog needing to be restricted to one part of the house. Didn't want a big swinging gate in the hall... this works great!The "User Guide" was a little hard to follow as it was not written by a native English speaker (ie "skirting boards" are base boards). Installation kit includes 1/4" and1/2" (can be used together for 3/4") spacing blocks for base boards.It included a very handy pair of templates for marking screw holes for each side. It came with 2 sets of mounting brackets and hooks so it can be attached in two separate locations. One little button to release it from the mounting bracket.Easy to use with one hand to hook across opening and lock into place.The receiving hooks on opposing wall are not very attractive with spacer (see photo).

Gates locking feature does not work, my child can push the gate far enough out it pops off the hooks and swings back into its roll. Def wouldnt recommend this for anyone and will now have to find a new gate

We have odd angled areas we needed to gate off from the baby. A normal solid gate just won't do and then you have to store it when not in use. Enter these retractable gates. They work great in wide spaces and on odd angles! They are easy to install once you wrap your brain around the process. They come with a lot of parts and options in case you have different installation needs, which is super helpful. It just makes it a little confusing until you figure that part out. These are bottom of the stairs safe NOT TOP OF STAIRS. They are fairly solid but have a little slack in them. It's not an issue for us and they work great for our needs. Baby can see through enough to watch someone in the kitchen so he knows where we are while not getting in. I appreciate that they roll up and stay where they are, out of the way, when not in use. Very easy to use and operate.

We love these retractable gates! We tried three types to see what worked best: a traditional metal baby gate, a tall metal dog gate with a small animal pass through, and this mesh gate. The mesh gate wins for interior door frames with doors that close away from the gate! We love this mesh gate for keeping our toddler out of rooms, it’s fairly easy to close even one handed and the locking feature at the top comes in handy. We love that it is permanently attached to the door frame too, since she can hit this thing all day and it doesn’t budge (unlike the pressure mounted gates). We do use the pressure mounted gates for door frames we can’t drill into (pocket doors or the door opens the wrong way), but prefer this for elsewhere since the gate easily ticks away when not in use. The only thing we don’t like is that it makes a clicking noise when retracting, but it doesn’t last long and it's fine as long as we we make sure to retract it before she goes to sleep (it’s in the same hallway as her room). Installing it was also surprisingly easy with the handy paper drill guides and directions!

I have used another brand of baby gate to secure my dogs in the laundry room with success. Some have the ability to racket tension after closing to prevent going under. But even when mounted as low as possible my dog was able to push under after trying to chewing through. The spring tension does not pull very tight so even in the locked position there is a bit of movement back and forth and up off the floor. Maybe good for a baby but not recommend for a dog unless docile in nature.

This gate is well designed except... All the photos show the gate mounted at a doorway, which works very well. But if you need to install the gate in the middle of a hallway, then because of the design of the gate's "catch hooks" there's too much space between the wall and the gate. I measure 2 1/2 inches. So if you only have kids, dogs and chubby cats, buy this gate.(and yes, I thought about mounting the catch hooks flat against the wall to reduce the open space, but the gate won't stay securely in the hooks, not securely as in Not At All.

This is nice because when your not using it. It's not in your way. I babysit so this works well for when kids aren't here there's no gate in the way. But I feel like it's not that good on being completely safe for over 2 years old. It's to easy to unhook. The lock just makes it where the baby can't push through. But the lock doesn't have anything to do with softly. Look at my 3rd photo to see what I mean
