There is room for improvement but it is a good value and good quality.
The shape of the seat is pretty close to comfortable, I think with more design and field research they could get it right. The three protrusions gives the user some options to deal with different angles and comfort issues. For me, when I match the height to my standing position (which is the maximum for me at 6'1"), the angle of the tube and base makes it more likely to start to slip around on my hardwood floor. I also need to wear rubber footwear (like shoes slippers or sandals) to prevent my feet from slipping so that I can safely stabilize the stool. The unit is significantly more stable if I lower it a little, which is not a problem for me because my sit-stand desk is easily adjustable. I regularly change between this middle position and the top position and standing without it, which I believe helps me keep my joints (lower back and all around my waist) from getting tense from being too sedentary. Some reviews report injuries from falling. You should use this stool mindfully, it doesn't support you like a chair. It moves. You don't need a strong athletic stance to be safe in it, but you should plan on using your legs more so than in a chair. If it slips, just stand up instead of going down with it.Overall I think it's a good buy for the price. Alternatives that appear to address the safety and ergonomic issues I discussed are way overpriced in my opinion. For a couple weeks of use, my back hips and knees are already seeing a benefit.Minor Update: I placed a small area rug under (and in front) of my desk, and this address a lot of safety and comfort issues. It permits me to tip the stool at a much steeper angle with decreased risk of slipping. This means I can get stronger support from the rear, and I can also place my body deeper into the center of the stool which is far more comfortable over time. I would recommend using a rug or carpet early on, because the slippage on the hardwood floor started wearing down the rubber grips on the bottom of the unit.

Overall pleased but with concerns
This may be more comfortable for men due to the natural construction of their hips. I found it to be comfortable for a decent amount of time but I need to step away and stretch about every hour or two (which I should be doing anyway) to keep my butt from becoming numb. It also hits my sciatic nerves, which again are relieved by periodically stretching. I need it to ease bilateral plantar fasciitis. So far I am more or less pleased with it but I recognize these particular factors may be a deal breaker for others.I did get the shorter model as I am only 5'3". It is a good height. At it's lowest setting it is a perfect sitting height for me but when standing/leaning, it could go a bit higher for me. As a note, I have a transition desk. So I switch back and forth between standing, leaning, and sitting.I am happy to say that so far (daily use for a week now) it holds up very well despite putting all my 230 lb weight on it. I don't feel off balance at all with the exception of the one time I leaned too far with it. However, I didn't come close to falling.I have noticed, as others have mentioned, that the seat does get pushed down a bit after raising the seat. So I am concerned for the longevity of the hydraulic system.Should my opinion change, I will update this review. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Good padding and motion
I love my standing desk, but finding a chair was difficult for me without spending waaay too much on something I wasn’t sure I’d use that much with my part time job. By afternoon, I am ready to stand and work. This chair allows me to lean against it without having to stand the whole time. I have a bad knee and standing in one place for too long isn’t good. The padded seat is nice. My old chair was hard. I give it 4 stars because it does make my butt fall asleep if I sit on it the wrong way for too long. I like the easy adjustability. It is tall. I am 5’7” and have to lower it or lean into it at full height. For the price, it is very nice.

It's a good rocker
I had an issue where the base of the seat came all mangled. That is, the plastic at the bottom of the seat cushion that connects to the base was malformed (by apparent bending post-production) and did not fit onto the base.I tried to return the chair, but the seller asked to just send me a new one. I agreed and the second chair works great.I STILL DO NOT UNDERSTAND the mechanism to raise and lower the seat. You pull on the strap (or push it in to move change height). Nobody in my house understands how it works, but it does... If you get this chair, you'll know what I mean: the mechanism doesn't seem like it should work, but it does. My current theory is that it's magnetic in some way... In hindsight, I should've tore the first chair apart to find out.But I digress. The chair is comfortable; does it's job--keeps my back straight while at my computer for hours on end.Solid base, but easy to move from one place to another.Despite the cheap plastic design that caused my problems with the first chair's assembly, I'm giving this Five stars because of the seller's commitment to getting me a working chair. Also, I have had this for several months and have no complaints.I recommend.

It rocks!
Very nicely packaged. Assembly directions were clear, and the process was quick & easy. After assembling the stool feels completely solid and the height easily.I have an adjustable standing desk, with a thick pad, but I had noticed that my knees and ankles were beginning to feel sore from standing all day. I now alternate between standing and sitting on this stool, and feel much better for it.For me, the pad is thick enough, and does not make me sweaty.I do wish that the height could be increased further. I have a 32in inseam, and when using the stool feel like it might be even more comfortable if I could increase the height a bit more.

Poor quality
Spring did not work (stayed low), part broken in seat, no customer service.
