Nice hoe but slightly overrated
I was expecting this weeding hoe to be fabulous beyond any other hoe. It is not. It is slightly sharper than my Ames triangular weeding hoe but only slightly. The edges are not knife chefs knife sharp, which was what I was looking for. During the current drought in California, the only thing growing really well are the weeds. We are getting monster weeds this year. I do not know how these weeds do it with no watering but they are growing everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE! They spring up and before you know it they have tough thick stems. This hoe gets them but it still takes almost as much work as my Ames hoe. This makes me sad. I think next month I might order the weeding sickle I saw on here. I am going to take a good magnified look at that sickle blade because these monster weeds need a chefs knife sharp tool to get through their tough stems and roots. My husband would kill me if I took his Wusthof chefs knives out to weed.

This gardening weeder is simple and it works great. It will be the "go-to" weeder for your vegetable garden row crops and raised beds. No more back breaking bending over or crawling on knee pads in the garden with this hoe/weeder.I had previously purchased and reviewed the 7" Rogue large disc hoe. An outstanding digging hoe for making rows and stirring, mixing and cleaning up a raised bed for new plantings. For weeding I was using a hand held weeder, a hula weeder as well as a hooked weeder inherited from my Dad - along with Round Up generics where I could safely spray. The weeds were getting the better of me I hate to say especially in the row crops where I needed a tool that could go between row plantings (cucumbers, squash, pumpkins, tomato, pepper and melons) and where I did not have to go on hands and knees to effectively weed around the plants and each row.During an Amazon search, I stumbled upon the Rogue Backyard Garden Prohoe 65VW and while pricey, my experience with the Rogue 7" large disc hoe pushed me to getting this new weeder/hoe tool. My experience over the last month in using it is...Excellent two head design works around the vegetable plants to efficiently weed both small and large weeds. The three prong side is great between row plantings and the more narrower hoe head side is excellent to use close in around the plantings - getting close into the main stalk and literally cutting out the weeds in a few passes. The blade of this tool is sharp right out of the packaging. (Getting the hoe head out of the packaging is not easy - take your time and patience cutting through wrapping because the blades are sharp.) The sharp edges on this unique weeding hoe is what makes this such a great tool. Very easy to sharpen with an axe file and stone. (Be careful not to cut your plantings. Unfortunately I did and lost a few cucumber and melon plants with the blade slicing easily through the main stem as I was learning how to use it. My bad.) You literally cut the weeds out as you cultivate the soil. Very easy with the long handle and light weeding head - you will not need to weed on your hands and knees with this tool.Solid tractor disc metal construction with a nice long hard wood handle. Very light weight and maneuverable as you cut through the row/garden weeds. Works great in hard clay soils as well as loam raised bed soils and in raised box soils. This "Do It All" tool makes other weeding tools obsolete. Highly recommend for vegetable garden weeding and cultivating AND to save your aching knees and back!

Very nice. I like it a lot.
Sliced through weeds in the gravel parking area. Cuts out dandelions in grass turf. Balanced well. It's not light but it's not fatigue level heavy either. Just about right for me. I'm 6'3" and the handle is a good length. I only bend down to see the tiny weeds to distinguish weeds from plants I want to leave alone. And to clean up after slicing an area of weeds. The hoe arrived USPS in plastic wrap instead of a box. Came off easily until the wrap around the metal end. Took a bit of work to slice off the tape and get the cardboard off. Would have liked a 'cut here' line or something to make that process safer and easier. After using this for a few hours today, it went where my other hoe didn't like to go ... grass turf. Little tiny dandelions that are not well suited to a broader edge. I like the pointy end. The rake end is nice to put the driveway back together ... the bindweed took over a large swath so I just plowed it up, pulled out the roots and stuff, raked it back, and voila. Done. Well, okay, it's work. It's not going to do it for you. You can't look at it, wink a couple times, and it moves on its own. It is work. It sure slices nicely. Want to slice off a wider area? Just turn it on the long side. Easy. Push-pull an area for tangled weeds? rake side and go to town. Make a little trough? Use the pointy end. Pop out single dandelions? Pointy end. So much nicer on my hands than a hand pick, bending down all the time, and all the force on my hands. A flat blade hoe or a curved edge just don't get the single dandelions (and other misc. weeds) out of the grass turf very easily. The 65 VW pops them right out. Please don't hold it with a death grip. Let the tool do the work. If you're in rocks, hold lightly. Sometimes, it won't go as far as you want through tough stuff. Just take smaller swipes. It'll get through it. Or use a different angle (or side of the tool). Plow a stretch next to the tough area and then come at it with the blade under the gravel or whatever. Anyway, it's a nice tool. Works well for me. I wouldn't want to try and cut out tree roots or something seriously resistant to this type of tool (get a saw, you know). It gets the job done. And I have energy left to do something else.
