Trust the reviews. Alteration may be required.
Here is the low down on the Din size of the Metra unit. I contacted customer service at Metra. They said that the 99-9309 is built to handle a head unit with an ISO standard Double Din size of 6.83” wide. I believe that the complaints are coming from JVC/Kenwood buyer’s and maybe some others. My JVC KW-740BT measures 6.94” wide. Although the Metra will snugly fit a device at 6.83” wide, the industry-wide size FOR ISO Single/Double Din head unit’s is 7.13” (7 1/8”) wide. The Metra is NOT. the Metra 99-9309 is 6.88” wide. So, in the end, it’s metra’s screw up for not making the OPENING the industry standard 7.13” wide, but also JVC/Kenwood’s screw up for assuming they could stretch their double Din head unit because it fits within the industry standard opening of 7.13” wide. A bad marriage can be fixed with a little alteration. Notice the attached photos. By masking off and patiently cutting away the flange on the left and right sides of the opening, the head unit will drop right in from the rear at the depth you choose.Another smart tip. The unit sheen and color do NOT match the factory interior. If you are picky enough to care about it, spray it with SEM Color Coat Landau Black. Make sure you prep the surface with SEM prep for plastic.Kudos to Metra for their fast and friendly email replies.

Arrived broken not bad overall
Overall for the challenging fitment for this car not bad, but mine arrived cracked in two places which I superglued back and aren’t noticeable. There are gaps around the pioneer head unit I installed, but not that noticeable. Really overall not a bad product but mine arriving broken lowered my rating. The finished product turned out ok. Not a lot of options if you have a mini and want a aftermarket stereo.

Great product for Mini Cooper aftermarket radio
This item was used for an aftermarket radio it looks good there is a small gap where the aftermarket radio goes up st the top but I do not think that is a product issue. I will admit the only thing I disliked was how tricky it was to put the cover in it gets caught where the cup holder is. I had to put radio in spot then put the face plate in place and reattach the radio to it without having to take apart the other piece. I have to say it looks good and couldn’t ask for anything more

This kit fits pretty good
Installed in a 2009 Mini Cooper S Convertible. The fit is 95% good. There are some minor alignment issues but only if you are looking for them. Overall the design is great... installation took FOREVER!! This is not the fault of the adapter, just the fact that there are about 30 screws and various panels to remove just to swap this. Amazing that something on the front of the dash requires removing the tachometer on top of the steering column. If you are considering installing a double din stereo in your mini, buy this kit and set aside a few hours for the install. Side note: I also ordered the Scosche kit as well to compare the 2. It is much more expensive with little noticeable difference. Because there was little difference I installed the metra with plans to return the Scosche.

Clean Fit
I purchased this dash kit to replace my terrible sounding stock radio in my 2010 Mini Cooper S. I thought I was going to be stuck with the stock radio until I found this dash kit. Purchased a Pioneer 1300NEX stereo and it fit like a charm. Removal and Installation was a bit difficult but thanks to many people that replaced their stock stereos I was able to find videos on how to do it, in the end a total success.

Ok for double din radio
I was trying to install a custom radio setup. This did not work for my application, but would work for a double din radio setup. I was trying to install an Ipad Mini in my Mini Cooper 2013. OPINION- The heater controls and toggle switches were too low with this setup causing the cup holders to be less useful.

Not a perfect fit, but close enough
Not a perfect fit, but close enough. Install was a bit of a hassle, but one can blame Mini for that..End result is a factory look. Would recommend.

Not Double Din
It is of the same quality material as the existing dashboard but it is not a true double din. Tried to install a Kenwood double din radio and had to “modify“ the frame to make it fit. It’s about 1/4” to small all the way around.

Finish is Good
Instruction set is very good. Not your typical broken English. Good pics and logical layout with links to text instructions. Finish of the pedestal structure is the same as the OEM part. Although not shown in the ad, the kit includes all the bracketry for install of single DIN and double Din components and also includes a blanking plate for the OEM radio control buttons on center display. The only thing left to assess is the fitment with the Double DIN unit. Previous reviewers say some modifications are required to get enough space for the install.
