Molnlycke 287100 Mepilex AG Silicone Foam Dressing (Pack of 5)

This is the product Hospice is using to treat the bedsores on my sister. They are expensive and I have yet to find a satisfactory way to attach them so that they are not wet in the morning and not pulled off by the transfers to the toilet.Any suggestions? I have used opsite flexifix tape and now mefix with only moderate success.

I could tell the box seemed to have been in storage a while, edges were brown, had to throw away. Wasn't worth risk of infecting wound.

Wound not healing well. Wound center recommended its use. Seemed to do its job. Ended use after wound required surgery because of unknown underlying bone infection.

This was used on a critical wound in our local hospital wound center. Pain relief was nearly immediate. It feels comforting and keeps pressure from wraps off the wound. Mine is a leg wound from surgery and any movement of the leg stretched the skin. Walking was painful as every time my foot hit the floor the vibration would go right up the leg. This seems to muffle that vibration. Wonderful product. Love the advantage of being able to cut the pieces you need. Will buy again. Excellent price and fast delivery just make it better. Not sure how it works, but it seems to draw infected material out and absorbs it away from the wound. Peels off effortlessly and doesn't disturb healing tissue. Great product.

Box should have contained 5 patches, but only had four. The process to correct this situation was not worth the time, effort, or cash. Will not order this type of product from Amazon again.

The Safe Tec technology of this dressing does exactly what it is proposed to do. It does not allow the dressing to stick to the wound bed. The foam is a good absorbent and the Ag does a nice job handling the surface bacterial load. This is significantly advantageous for "at risk" for infection folks (Diabetics, immunocompromised, etc) by helping to keep the surface bacterial load at bay, the risk of advancing infection is lowered.Another advantage is that this dressing can be cut into smaller pieces without affecting the dressing integrity. This allows the cost per day of using the dressing to decrease.Also the multi-day ability to leave the dressing in place up to 7 days (if the drainage allows), once again the cost per day is decreased.

What can I say that I haven't already said. The only reason I gave it a 4 star rating is because it is so expensive.

Mepilex Ag Antimicrobial Soft Silicone Foam was exactly as I expected. My husband contracted a very bad case of cellulitis with a great deal of tissue damage. The wound care doctor had us using these to pull out the infection and drain the wound. The were much less expensive on Amazon. I paid $15.00 for each pad through the medical supply service. I am very pleased with the quality of this product. I am also very happy with the timely delivery of the product from Amazon.
