Tormented Calling All Skins Fans!!!!!!
Tormented is one of the best movies of 2009. Surprisingly witty, funny, outrageous and great horror at it's best! It really is so much like skins and you will be missing out if you don't watch this! I caught this at the cinema not knowing what to expect and considering it's low budget i think you can guess what's going to happen, but i was pleasantly shocked to see that this movie absolutely rocked! One thing i must say though is make sure you don't watch it with your mum or dad!, as i felt so embarassed for the person sat in front of me with his mum! This does contain two sex scenes and other sex references, but don't let that put you off. Great acting, brilliant direction and gore done in a funny way like Shaun Of The Dead, but better! Don't forget to pre order your copie now like myself!

Excellent British horror
A school pupil Darren Mullett has commited suicide, and his classmates gather for his funeral. As head girl Justine is reading out a tribute, a friend of Darren's jumps up and shouts that the mourners are all hypocrites. He is thrown out of the church. Justine becomes involved with a boy called Alexis, who belongs to a popular clique of sixth formers. She attends a party, but at the end Alexis and his friends all recieve texts from someone purporting to be Darren Mullet, swearing vengeance on the group. Soon Justine discovers that her boyfriend and his pals know a lot more about Darren than they are letting on, and that she may have unwittingly contributed towards his suicide. Then the texts start again, and the members of the group start to die one by one. Has Darren Mullet returned to wreak a bloody vengeance on his tormentors? This film has been compared to teen programmes like Skins in other reviews. Well, on a cosmetic level this may well be the case, but dig a little deeper, and you will find that this film is in fact a clever, witty British horror film with a social message. It offers observations on various teenage tribes, the politics of popularity and the culture of bullying. The young British cast all equip themselves extremely well, its got some great gory set pieces and is also full of dark humour. One aspect that is not played for humour are the flashbacks to the bullying, which are uncomfortable to watch. I think that the film can be enjoyed by both younger viewers and also old farts like me, who have watched the progression of British horror over the years, as its a worthy addition to the genre. All in all, a very enjoyablre film, and also an excellent DVD release with some nice extras. 4 out of 5

I'm flattered that you're stalking me.....
Justine is the head girl of her plush grammar school, Fairview High. She has won a place at Oxford University, when In-Crowder Alexis asks her out on a date. But Alexis and his friends aren't quite as hip and glam as they seem. Underneath the clique's veneer lurks a pack of vicious tormentors who find it vastly amusing to tease anyone they consider worthless.Their main target Darren Mullett, was bullied him to death by the crowd. The overweight, asthmatic nerd was so relentlessly victimised by their taunts, website intimidation and mobile phone recordings, he committed suicide. But death is not going to stop Darren finding the courage to stand up for himself. With nothing left to lose, he takes revenge on his former classmates. And the In-Crowd soon discover to their horror there is no point reasoning with a very angry entity......The first time I saw this movie, I wasn't very impressed with it. I found it to be immature, pretty inane, and rather boring. But for some reason, I was always compelled to watch it again for some reason. The film had something, and I feel that my shortcomings of dismissing it as just a British slasher wannabe was unfair. On second viewing, yes, it's much more than bullies getting their just desserts, it's also about fitting in, do we actually fit in? And why do we want to fit in? For status? Justine clearly doesn't need status, she's a free bird, able to fit in wherever she wants, and it appears as Darren is following her path with her, realising that she isn't the person he was infatuated with, as the 'In-crowds' amalgamated personalities are slowly melding with hers. It's pretty deep, I know, but so is finding yourself, coping with inadequacies, loss of innocence, and and the fundamental aspect, bullying, and why they do it. It appears here it's done for acceptance, for power, and scarily, for fun. When you look at it from a different angle, the crowd are the monsters here, and Darren is the ghostly form of Karma, giving each bully a metaphorical taste of their own medicine, and the biggest sinner, Justine, beds up getting the blame for everything.Or is she bullied, and having delusional fantasies, just like Darren did, and instead of taking the cowards way out, exacts bloody revenge on all who made her feel worthless. On this level, its a pretty deep movie, but I feel its misunderstood, and dismissed a slasher movie.Either way, its fun.And here's food for thought, why on earth would the bullies have Darren's mobile number, they made his life hell, why would he share his number? A minor flaw....

i loved it!
i know a lot of people dont like this film but i really do!it's a clever idea and the moral is good even though its not very realistic but when is a horror movie?someone on a 1* review said the brits have trouble making slasher movies like the americans but ive seen a few slasher movies in my time and this is very good.it's funny too as the comedy horror genre suggests and the actors are also very gooda couple of people from skins and some other quite well known british actors not to mention alex pettyfer who has now made his name in hollywood.plus he's not the worst looking guy ever ;)

Tormented by incompatability.
This DVD was in a different format--should say so for foreign customers! I watched it a couple of times on my computer, but couldn't get my DVD player to work with it. Then, my computer stopped being able to read it. I'm glad it worked the few times, but I won't order a foreign DVD again:( The actual product was clearly awesome, though.

I think that's why I enjoyed it. I had no idea it was going ...
A British jab on the "American Teen Film", including "slasher" and "horror" elements. I originally saw this movie as a double-feature with "Napoleon Dynamite", knowing nothing about it. I think that's why I enjoyed it. I had no idea it was going to get as dark as it did, expecting just a comedy. I can see how people expecting it to be just a horror/slasher flick would be gravely disappointed. But my experience was different, pleasantly surprised. It works great as a dark comedy with a serious subject matter (that of bullying and suicide). What really sold me on this film was the overall message. It hit deeper than most mainstream teen films or slasher films I've seen.

Dark-humored thriller more fun than you'd expect
A nifty little British horror flick that is surprisingly good - with equal dashes of suspense, humor and violence - Tormented, billing itself as "a slasher movie for the Skins generation," is about a set of British high school teens who are attractive, privileged, and rule the school ... and the class nerd they tormented for months, before the kid finally committed suicide. The film does, in fact, start out at the funeral of Darren Mullet (Calvin Dean) - with the school's head girl, Justine (Tuppence Middleton) in charge of delivering the boy's eulogy. It is painfully obvious, from the start, that Justine didn't know Darren at all, and in fact causes Darren's best friend Jason (Olly Alexander) to disrupt the funeral and call her out.Afterward, Justine is comforted by fellow classmate Alexis (Dimitri Leonidas), an attractive guy who obviously likes her. Justine likes the attention, and through Alexis is eventually invited into his circle of special friends - led by the vain, manipulative, mean-spirited Bradley (Alex Pettyfer). Turns out, in fact, that Alexis' friends are all a bunch of unlikable creeps - but as they're the cool kids, and as Justine really likes Alexis, she sort of decides to temporarily go along for the ride. That is, until they start to die, one by one and in violent ways, seemingly at the hand of Darren Mullet - who has come back from the grave to enact his revenge. As Justine slowly learns just what role her new friends had in Darren's suicide, the body count rises and Justine learns that she may have not only been added to the list ... but moved to the top of it.On the surface, Tormented might seem just like any other slasher/horror flick, but there are some really cool, subtle differences; little tweaks that make the film unique in its own way. You get some nice insight to Darren Mullet while he was alive, via video footage, and see the bulky, overweight asthmatic being tormented by his classmates ... which makes things more surreal later when, though Darren is dead, he still uses his inhaler to breathe. I also very much liked Alexis' character (and Dimitri Leonidas, who as Alexis is one of the best reasons to watch the film); without him acting as the bridge between Justine and his nasty friends, you wouldn't give a damn about the friends when they start dying. It's Alexis' regret over what happened, his desire to repent for what he and his friends did to Darren while Darren was alive, that makes you even remotely care about what happens to the others, in the end. And though there are a couple of fairly violent scenes, the film isn't a total gorefest like so many of its American counterparts have become. Even the humor is well-done, self-deprecating and keeping things a little light in between all the scares and giving the film a nice balance.Overall, the film is a nice little thriller about the ghosts that come back to haunt us - in this case, literally. A really enjoyable thriller, with a good-looking cast of victims.
