Good value - not a bad choice if you can't afford a Bialetti
IMPORTANT NOTE: There is an error in the listing: this is NOT suitable for induction hobs (it is aluminium, so it is not magnetic). That point aside, for the price I paid (just less than a tenner) I consider this a really good value coffee maker. The paint finish on the outside looks like it does in the photos (kind of looks like the finish you get on non-stick pans). The inside of the lower compartment where you put the water to boil is coated in a pale grey non-stick coating which is not perfectly smooth (or maybe the aluminium is not milled as smoothly, difficult to say) but it works well so no problem really. The top compartment where the brewed coffee appears is plain uncoated aluminium. Avoid using the handle to screw the top onto the base - it does feel like it might snap if you do, but a lot of these coffee makers feel the same - the handle is always the weakest part as the design means it can only attach at the top.Volume-wise, it makes around 350 ml of coffee when you fill the base compartment as far as you should fill it (just under the little gold metal valve). Filling the base up to that point takes almost exactly 400 ml but there always appears to be around 30 ml of water left in the base compartment after it finishes making the noise that indicates it has finished brewing - I suppose this means it never boils dry (unless you leave it too long) so is probably not a bad thing. 350 ml is enough for two mugs of coffee (9 cups refers to single espresso size, I guess).I have been using a standard Lavazza Rosso espresso coffee, which makes a good strong cup without filling the coffee funnel thing to the top or tamping it down too much. It would probably work with any kind of ground coffee though, even a cafetiere blend, though it might be a bit less strong.Pluses for me in comparison with some of the negative reviews for some of the other cheap stovetop coffee makers:- Does not leak steam or water while heating (some reviews suggest that some other cheaper ones seem to have this fault)- Pours well with no spills- Top part screws on to base securely and easily - seems well made- Looks good- Cheap (at least when I bought it)- Makes good coffee simply - which is after all the point!

Couldn't live without it.
Without an Italian-style stove-top espresso maker, my life would be impossible to sustain. I have used this at least once a day for the last 6 months since purchasing and it still works as well as the day it arrived. It's predecessor was retired when the handle snapped, but this one feels a lot sturdier. I opted for the "12 up" size as I have found others to be a little too small for my liking. This one will fill 2 very large mugs with a little space for milk, so it is perfect for me and my partner who need the kick start to the day.My only grip is with the spout, which is a common complaint I have had with many of these. It takes a steady hand to pour a cup without any dribble or spilling, so I tend to do it over the sink as I don't have enough patience.Overall I am very happy with the purchase and unless something very unexpected were to happen, I would be happy to purchase again.

Pretty decent.
I was getting ready to make a coffee when I though, I wonder if the new one has turned up and so I looked out of the window and sure enough, there it was sat on my parcel box, delivered a week quicker than the estimate. My old coffee maker lasted 4 years (to the day funnily enough) and then the handle cracked. It cost me almost £40 although I see on Amazon the same make of basic looking aluminium pot is around £25. This was a mere £17. It's got a lot more capacity than my old one, well over a pint of water if you wanted. The black finish looks very stylish and the handle is very comfortable, no harsh mould lines to sand off. There is a gap between the lid (as shown in the photgraph) which is disappointing but how these pots seem to go but it doesn't spit or leak so, not really a problem for me.

Excellent quality coffee!
Excellent quality, excellent material. The handle is strong but the only thing is that the lid doesn't fit correctly, spilling coffee everywhere when making it as it leaves a gap in between. Apart for that, amazing coffee!

Durable
Have the 3 cup version, has worked perfectly for me (the seal has only given out after 2 years of everyday use). I make coffee every day (on a gas hob), sometimes even maybe twice. Sturdy, long lasting an fair price. Have used it for camping coffee making on portable hob too. The only downside is its heavy, but unless camping I don't see a reasonable need to move it around much.

Semplice e comoda
