Like everything it’s down to good preparation. It worked perfectly in protecting my carpet. I would recommend this product

Strong and useful but not suitable for painting and decorating
This is very sticky tape and probably good for multiple jobs, however, painting and decorating is not one of them. It pulls off paint so if you're painting the skirting and use this, be prepared to repaint the bottom of your wall.
