Will this clip scratch a wood or metal table?

No Specially designed and tested, the clip pads on each end protect surfaces. They are clear, sturdy and will grip well but will not scratch.

how much weight will this hold?

The Clipa2 (which are made in China only hold up to 33 pounds). The Original Clipa were made in the USA and held up to 45 pound's & would last for 10 years.

How many come with an order?

As of February 2020 (my recent order) you receive one (1) per order, not two. The name "Clipa 2" might be a version 2, or something else, but it does not indicate the number of items you receive per order.
