Cordless heat gun
The CRAFTSMAN V20 Cordless Heat Gun is a versatile tool designed for a variety of applications, from DIY projects to professional tasks. With its cordless functionality and robust performance, it’s worth taking a closer look to see how it stands up to the demands of both hobbyists and pros.Design & BuildThe first thing you'll notice about the CRAFTSMAN V20 Cordless Heat Gun is its ergonomic design. It has a well-balanced, comfortable grip that reduces hand fatigue during extended use. The build quality feels solid and durable, which is reassuring given the power and heat this tool generates. The absence of a cord adds a layer of convenience and flexibility, making it easy to maneuver and use in tight or hard-to-reach spaces.PerformanceIn terms of performance, the CRAFTSMAN V20 Heat Gun is impressive. It heats up quickly and delivers consistent, adjustable heat output, which can reach up to 990°F. This makes it suitable for a wide range of tasks, including paint stripping, shrinking tubing, thawing pipes, and more. The heat gun features two temperature settings and a variable speed trigger, allowing for precise control over the heat and airflow. This versatility is particularly useful for different materials and applications, ensuring that you get the desired result without overheating or damaging the workpiece.Battery LifeOne of the key advantages of this heat gun is its cordless design, powered by the CRAFTSMAN V20 battery system. The battery life is generally satisfactory for most applications, though it may vary depending on usage and the specific tasks being performed. The ability to use the same battery across other CRAFTSMAN V20 tools is a significant plus, adding convenience and value if you already own or plan to invest in more tools from the same line.Ease of Use & MaintenanceUsing the CRAFTSMAN V20 Heat Gun is straightforward, thanks to its intuitive controls and balanced design. The tool’s lightweight nature makes it easy to handle, even for prolonged periods. Maintenance is minimal; just ensure that the heat gun is turned off and cooled down before storing it. The nozzle and other components are easy to clean, which helps maintain the tool’s performance over time.DrawbacksWhile the CRAFTSMAN V20 Cordless Heat Gun offers many benefits, it’s not without its drawbacks. The battery-powered operation, while convenient, might limit the heat gun’s run time for more extensive tasks, especially if you don’t have a spare battery handy. Additionally, the heat gun might struggle with heavier-duty jobs compared to corded models with higher power outputs.Another consideration is the cost. Cordless heat guns can be more expensive than their corded counterparts, which might be a factor if you’re on a tight budget.

Heat gun
Works great! Light weight and heats quickly, also seems pretty easy on battery

Works fantastic
Recently made the switch over to Craftsman tools. I bought a wrap and a tint for my vehicle that I was going to install myself. It works fantastic, lasts long on a standard 20v 4Ah battery. The 4Ah battery helped me wrap the whole front end of my compact sports car. Highly recommended. If you base decisions solely on reviews: it does not include a battery with it. It comes with the Heat gun only. I was unaware when I purchased.

Works GREAT! But it chews through batteries quickly.
Great little heat gun, but it's goes through a 4.0ah V20 battery very quickly, make sure tho have a charged backup or three.

Worth your consideration if you have larger batteries
This is a nice little tool if you're looking for portability in a heat gun but you should take a few things in to consideration before pulling the trigger, so to speak. To run this tool effectively you're going to need at least a 4.0aH battery or larger. If you're new to Craftsman's V20 battery line and, say, you only have the 1.5aH or 2.0aH batteries that came with your drill and driver, this is not the tool you'll want to get. Opt for the corded version instead. 4.0aH batteries can be found on sale fairly routinely at around $90-100 for a two pack, but if they aren't on sale you're looking at more around $150.A 2.0aH battery will function, however it will take 10+ seconds for the heat to reach operable temperature, and the battery with drain exceedingly fast. A 4.0aH allows the gun to reach operating heat faster, and the battery will last a bit longer. This particular tool works for me because it will be shared between myself and a coworker and we can grab it to and from our respective workstations. Additionally, we're only using it occasionally. If you're looking for a heat gun that you'll be using often or for long stretches of time, opt for a corded version instead.Your corded heat guns will always be more powerful and faster to reach temperature than this one and are around half the price. This tool is a good option if you are looking for mobility or wish to work without the hassle of a cord. All that being said, it functions fantastic with a battery appropriate to its needs. This unit does not include a battery -- also bear that in mind. It is lightweight with a small profile, but any tool you plug a larger battery too will increase its heft a fair amount. In summary, if you need portability and are deeply invested in to Craftsman's V20 line, it's a good buy. But most folks, I think, would be best served with a traditional corded gun.

Low fan speed
This gun can be very useful and come in handy for being cordless. I recommend using a larger battery because the run time is less than 15min. The gun blows hot air that is good for repairing plastics, but the fan speed is extremely low. If the air blew stronger it would be a much better tool

Dont wait
I hesitated to get this and kept my tired and true wired heat gun I’ve had for decades. The first time i needed this to make a repair under my RV I realized waiting was a mistake. Get it, and the soldering iron. It’s a must have for a full time RV life or work around auto’s.
