Most pleased ...
Waited 10 years to finally upgrade. Decided home office was due for a real makeover. New illuminated keyboards caught my eye, new marble mice would stop the driving all over the desk and workspace area. But, mostly the thought of having dual monitors finally drove me to do it.Old Belkin Omni-Cube served me very well, thank you; but was only PS2 and VGA, single monitor designed. (It will eventually continue to live on in a different configuration). But, I must admit that the changeover to this new StarTech KVM sv231ddvdua was painless - if a little costly in cabling (after all this is a makeover - everything PS2 must go!). Spent as much on new cabling, etc. as the unit itself; but it was worth it all the way! This KVM switches screens effortlessly and quickly. And, most importantly, has not had any trouble switching the illuminated USB keyboard, mouse or external drives between units. Have suffered no loss or drop in either configuration. Am running a personal Windows 7 professional unit as the primary, and a Windows XP professional work pc as scondary.Only thing I did notice, however is that if I stay too long with either 1 unit or the other, I must 'roll my mouse' to wake-up the other unit if I use front panel switch. I have adjusted my screen saver and idle timers and it seems to be USB-related. A minor inconvenience. However, If I use CTRL>CTRL>1 or 2, change is immediate and responsive from the start.Only 'CHEESY' feature is the front panel LED. The front-panel switching works properly but looks terrible. In either 1 or 2 position, instead of a crisp delineation between the RED and GREEN; you get a YELLOW-ish GREEN-to-RED fade. That really looks cheap. But it is what's in-the-metal-box that matters, and with that overwhelmingly, I am pleased. I look forward to getting some years of use out of this sturdy-looking unit.StarTech.com 2 Port DVI VGA Dual Monitor KVM Switch USB with Audio & USB 2.0 Hub (SV231DDVDUA)

Works well with various video setups
I purchased this KVM specifically because it was able to handle VGA and DVI inputs and because I have 3 different PCs that utilize 3 different video configurations:1) Has dual VGA outputs (older PC)2) Work laptop has 1 DVI and 1 VGA3) Home desktop has dual DVI***I'm inheriting a MAC that has a DVI out, haven't tested this yet, but I'll be interested to see how the keyboard functions considering the keys are different on a MACOverall the device works well with the multiple configurations. I had to be somewhat creative with how I connected everything. Fortunately my monitors support the DVI or VGA connection and the KVM has a single DVI and single VGA connection for each PC I need it to support. For the PC that had dual DVI connections I had one monitor connected to the KVM and then the other monitor I actually ran the DVI cable to the PC and used the button on the monitor to switch back and forth. I do the same thing for the dual VGA configuration. Obviously for the laptop that is DVI/VGA I just use the device as is.A couple of minor things that honestly I don't fault the device/manufacturer for is how it operates before the system boots to windows (haven't tried this with Linux systems, but it would likely work). My company has a security software (I believe it's disk encryption security) that requires to enter your password before booting into windows. The keyboard works, however I do have to press the keys twice when entering the password. For example if the password is 123, you'd have to enter 112233 for it to enter 123.The other item I've read about in other reviews is the occasional power flicker, where the device beeps and your monitors flicker. While this is a bit startling at first, it's actually kind of rare and for the convenience I get with having the device it's a very minor downside that I'm willing to accept. Frankly you are taking multiple inputs with varying signals, so the fact that the device works as well as it does is good enough for me.The only con I would mention is the price. I think I paid around $230 which is pricy for a KVM. But like I mentioned above, most KVMs only handle one or the other (VGA / DVI).One last pro is StarTech support. Prior to purchasing the device I contacted them via live chat and was able to explain the configuration I had and confirm that the device would meet my requirements.

Needs abit more elbow room for the connectors
My main regrets is that I should have gotten a version with all DVI connectors.Even so, the spacing of the existing DVI connectors is a bit too tight to allow for some VGA -> DVI adapters

Works great out of the box.
This works great for my desktop and business laptop. No problem at all to setup, and it works fine with my Logitech Unifying adapter for keyboard and mouse. Recommended.

Second monitor (VGA connection) doesn't work correctly under Ubuntu
I have one Dell 24" monitor (don't know model, is connected via DVI) and second Dell 24" monitor (model E2318HN, connected via VGA). My O/S is Ubuntu. It is highly likely that the product works for Windows but unfortunately it did not work for me. I found StarTech to be very good about it. They accepted my explanations, screen shots and photographs, and have organised a refund for the product, which I returned to Amazon.

Ware in Ordnung!
Das Produkt kann man nur empfehlen und kaufen! Die Qualität ist super gegenüber den sonst auf dem Markt angebotenen Marktbegleitern. Ich habe den Kauf nicht bereut. Die Steuerung funktioniert einfach super!
