It works great! It's a little smaller than I imagined
Using this for my mini bugout bag that I'm keeping in my car. It works great! It's a little smaller than I imagined, the picture makes it look wider than it is because it's taken from an angle. It's basically about the size of a hydration pack with a little more bulk.

Great design but smaller than I expected...
This product is smaller than I expected and I did consider returning it; however, it is a well designed product. the G-Hook attachments make hooking to another pack's compression straps very easy. Additionally, these straps are designed to ALSO add compression to the pockets contents also -- very nice. Additionally, the shoulder straps (1" wide) have a nice pocket for storage and will be helpful for a short trip; but with heavy loads... not recommended. The bag also has a thin plastic liner to add form. It covers the back side and wraps to the front around the bottom.I have Deuter side pockets for my packs also and one of those is almost as big as this one bag.Took one star because it should have been a llittle bigger than it is -- say 2 - 3 inches wider.

Not As Advertised.
It works as an additional pocket for storage, but not recommended as a separate/standalone pack. I purchased the Daypack to carry my rain gear and backpack over while hiking the Inca Trail in June. It was easy to clip the Daypack on to my main backpack, a Lowepro Photo Sport 200AW, but the manufacture didn't provide enough instructions to easily attach the shoulder straps to use it as a standalone backpack. I like the pack, just need better instructions from the manufacture.

Great daypack
Works great as a daypack for me. For those who a wondering how to convert it to a daypack, I've added pictures. Here's how I did it.1. Extend bottom straps all the way2. Pull shoulder straps from their hidden compartments at the top3. Use silver clips to connect bottom straps to shoulder straps.

small, uncomfortable straps for day hike
Bought this try and be able to pack more once my osprey 75L pack is full and attach to the outer of my bag.... this is def too small and Osprey sadly doesn't make another attachable bag like this one.... also I couldn't even use this for a day hike bag either bc the straps are super uncomfortable

Perfect Daypack (for your camino) !
My wife and I walked the 500 mile camino frances during October, 2015. For our main backpacks, we purchased a 50 litre Atmos for me and a 48 litre Kestrol for her. Both were perfect for our needs. Before our trip, we asked the salesperson at the gear store what she suggested we use as a simple daypack for the afternoons and evenings. She showed us the Osprey Alpine daypack. This was perfect for us to carry snacks, documents, sunglasses, etc. The straps are quite flexible and she showed us how to attach the daypack to our main backpacks during the day. After two weeks on the camino, my wife developed knee pain, so we used a transport service to send her backpack ahead each day. She used the Osprey Alpine daypack during our daily walks and it was large enough to carry a 1 litre water bottle, goretex rainjacket, iPhone, and a few other items. We are walking the camino again this September and will get good use of our Osprey daypacks again.
