Foundations of Contemporary Interpretation

Wonderful writing poorly made book.
Moises Silva and the other authors in this six volume work are incredible and the content included is well worth the read. However, the printing of this volume is terrible and the scholars in this book and customers who by it deserve better from Zondervan. The paperback is not worth the $40 original price tag. This printing is so bad it is a wonder that Zondervan let it be sold at all. There are almost no margins and it is printed to closely to the binding. You have use force to pull the book open wide enough to read the final word that lays too deep within the crease, destroying the book more and more with every page that is turned. Very difficult to read font. It is too faith and too small. Even the text on the cover does not fit and is clipped off at the edges. It looks more like a locally made, armature, poor quality Xerox that was hastily made to save ink and paper rather than a world class theological publishing by Zondervan.

High Quality Work
Not for the immature reader. This book faces issues that intimidate contemporary interpreters of the Bible, providing the best scholarship in response. It also gives wise insight into many needed aspects of contemporary interpretation, such as the use of language.Good for anyone, but especially for seminary students, as a help to guide them through some of the difficult issues presented to them regarding Biblical hermeneutics. The book first gives points of view that are contrary to traditional Christianity and then answers them by presenting theologically sound answers. It may be cumbersome to read through the many quotations and references to outside sources, but the effort is well worth it.Highly recommended.

Foundations Hermeneutics
Foundations provide a wide range of excellent contributions on the history and current challenges in the area of responsible Bible interpretation. It provides more than history: it engages the time we are living in and modern literary insights, it shows the way ahead. Finally, it honours the Bible as God's Word applicable for all times.

The book is great; the printing is awful.
Firstly, I would rate the actual content of the book 5/5 stars. 6 different works here by five world-class evangelical scholars who are at the absolute peak of their respective fields. Anyone with an interest in hermeneutics, inspiration, interpretation and/or linguistics as they relate to biblical studies should definitely own a copy of this book. But, maybe get a digital copy on Logos...because this printing from Zondervan is honestly awful. It looks like a self-published book that some guy paid to have printed himself, not a work printed by one of the biggest Christian publishing houses in the world. The paper is thin, the writing is faint and blurry, and the typesetting is poor (with the words going far too close to the edges of each page). All of this makes it quite difficult to read, and I suspect that the book itself will likely start falling apart before a reader makes it through all 650+ pages. I'm not sure who dropped the ball at Zondervan to let this one get past the quality control people, because honestly it's a real shame that such an important work is being presently so poorly.

Bad printing
The book is great, but the printing is awful. The fonts are small and the printing is faint. I was expecting better from Zondervan for such a valuable content. If they can't provide a better printed book, they should at least make it available as a kindle book.
