The magnifier makes it possible for me to read small print
The magnifier makes it possible for me to read small print. Its diameter and 3x magnification work well together so it is possible to read a convenient portion of text without moving it. Someday I may find something which needs the little 6x dot magnification but, for now, it's just an intrusion.I have it attached to a BLACK Carabiner Style Retractable Reel. I use it to see the smallest font on my iPad so I know what to tap when I want to go somewhere. I'm sure the neck chain works well too but it doesn't suit my needs. The little baggie, likewise, is superfluous for me. They could probably reduce the price somewhat by selling just the magnifier.

So glad I decided to try this - it is such a helpful tool!
I started a big cross stitch project over 30 years ago and completed about 2/3 of it. Not sure why I never finished it but I recently came across it and decided to finish it. I’ve known that my eyesight wasn’t what it used to be, but had no idea how crippling it would be to try to cross stitch again with my “old people eyes”! I decided to order this item to see if it would help. This thing has made all the difference in the world! Now instead of struggling to see even with reading glasses, this hands-free magnifier helps so much! It works great without the light, but the light is definitely a plus. I love using this with my cross stitch and can see where it will come in handy with other similar projects too.

Lens size a little small. Light not bright enough.
I do a lot of cross stich and was looking for a good hands free magnifier. I like that this has the spot lens and it's comfortable to wear. What I didn't care for was the overall lens size - it's a bit smaller than I expected when compared to a different brand that is sold with supposedly the same size lens. It also seems like the magnifying strength is stronger than 2x. The light is not quite as bright as I like either. However I really liked the battery compartment location and design. I had been using a Rumfro magnifier which was pretty good but the battery compartment design was terrible and failed in less than 4 months. If you are looking for a magnifier for anything other than cross stitch work and you don't need a really bright light then this could be for you.

Nice magnifier!
I bought this as well as the General Tools 532.For starters, this arrived in two days. The GT 532 took 12 days! Both ordered the same time...I replaced the neck lanyard provided with a shorter piece of bunjie. Very handy to wear around your neck.I recently had cataract surgery and opted to have my nearsightedness corrected, which left me unable to see anything closer than about 4'. I bought an assortment of reading glasses from Walmart, as well as these two magnifiers, just to get by for the moment. If I had to pick one or the other, the Carson is the winner. It is less bulky, and IMO, allows me to see better, with or without glasses. It has a better case as well.I also bought a lighted, free standing/handheld, 5x Carson FH-25 magnifier at Walmart. I spent a few days looking and have not found any better product than what Carson has to offer. If it were not for wasting resources and money to return the GT 532, I would do so. I will just keep it around for the times I forget what I did with the Carson..

Magnifier meets my needs quite well
perfect item for those of us newly requiring reading glasses (and forgot the darn things at the shack or in the car, etc.) - with the neck cord, it's very easy to slip it on when I get ready to go out - the wee case, with its Velcro closure, keeps the magnifier nicely protected - haven't had much use for the 6x lens embedded in the 3x one, but I'm sure there'll come a need to get close-n-personal with some very fine print material - yeah ... me like!

Perfect, Lightweight
Just what I was looking for!! I just can't remember to carry reading glasses with me but still have occasional trouble reading labels, menus, etc. For an upcoming cruise, I will be carrying a padded camera bag to use as a carry-all purse, and I intend to attach this to a retractable badge holder reel. When needed, I can easily pull it out for use, then it will retract back to my bag, neat and simple. The "glass" is a lightweight plastic with a small spot with higher magnification. It fits into its vinyl case nicely and snugly, so don't think the case will be lost easily. It comes with a black cord for wearing around the neck, but I'll be detaching and discarding the cord in favor of my badge reel. For the price, this magnifier is hard to beat!If you find the information in this review to be helpful, please click "yes". Thanks!!

I'd love this magnifier, if it were not for the "blotch"
After buying several (mainly Carson brand) magnifiers, thus far, this looks to be my favorite. The Carson Lighted Magnifold is a close second.I like the AAA battery part. If I accidentally leave the light on thus draining the battery, all I need is new AAA batteries. For specialized batteries, I have to go to Radio Shack which is a pain. This magnifier is light even with the two AAA batteries. I open the split handle and set both feet on my tummy, then swivel a little as I read across lines on the page.Comparing rectangular magnifiers to round magnifiers: I have a rectangular magnifier and it tends to tilt at an angle, sort of defeating the purpose of the rectangle. When not in use, I'll be putting the magnifier in a terry cloth pocketed pot holder so the acrylic doesn't get scuffed or scratched. The company doesn't offer a protective bag. Acrylic surfaces scuff and scratch easily and once there, you can't repair them. All you can do is prevent scuffs. I'll be keeping the magnifier-in-pot-holder at my desk somewhere. What ruins this magnifier is the 3.5x bi-focal lens ("blotch"), which blocks out the writing on that spot. I really don't know why that spot lens is added --it's a pain in the butt -- if someone needs additional magnification, let them take responsibility for it and carry around a 2nd lens. The "blotch" is why I am looking for a different magnifier.

Perfetto
Consegna nei tempi. Prodotto favoloso.
