In spite of the absolutely dreadful abuse there was the light of hope!
Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus were the two youngest of the three women held captive by Ariel Castro for 10 years in Cleveland, Ohio. (I am sure everyone remembers hearing about it on the news.) In this Instaread summary (think very detailed review) you will find an 8 page summary including some important dates. The 'Character Analysis' is of Berry and DeJesus. What are the 'Themes' of the original book?Hope/survival * Faith, hope and charity * The man and the monster * Welcome to the neighborhood * Learning from a decade of frustrationThis is an EXCELLENT section. Despite the hope, it is important to note that "there is simply no escaping the graphic and heartbreaking horror of what is happening in the house..." What the original book/their story has done is raise awareness of similar cases etc. This summary, yes remember this is NOT the full book, is an excellent option for those not able to 'stomach' the graphic details of the original but do want to know a little more. Read the original and want/need to capture the main points? Perfect!Book received in exchange for an honest review. Thanks, Liz
