American History: A Survey, 13th Edition (NASTA Hardcover Reinforced High School Binding) 13th Edition

This text is used across the US as one of the standard texts for AP US History. As a tutor for students taking this course,I obtained the book in order to help the students. It is well written and the author makes every attempt to make the materialaccessible for high school students as well as college students. US History is full of detail, of course, and an understandingof the details in context is a major goal for the student. This text does a good job of noting the diverse historical experiencesof the populations who were native to the US and those who arrived at different times. It also deals with geography, technology,wars and territorial expansion, and important historical figures. The online materials available for the book are excellent.

The table of contents is very neat and laid out! The book is easy to see and read. The font is not too small and this book contains alot of information for the class. Goes well in depth and has subtitles that really help the student understand what they are reading.

Reads well, takes you from the beginning to a very recent time. The version is mostly like the newer one, so if your class requires the newer one, you can get by using this one. In all, not a bad textbook.

This etext is outstanding unless you have a Kindle or an iPad. If you do, you are out of luck. It was foolishly designed exclusively for Kindle for PC or Kindle for Mac. It won't work on Kindle, iPad, or phones. Other great text books are available if, like me, you are a teacher and your students are showing up with iPads. The Enduring Vision, for example, by Paul S. Boyer, Clifford E. Clark, etc. is available in a nice format for Kindles and iPads. The Enduring Vision: A History of the American People, 7th Edition
