JDB. has penned a Chisholm Trail western action adventure titled, "The Lonesome Chisholm Trail" which begins with a young man leaving South Carolina headed for Texas to join his Uncle. After many days on the road. The one person he makes friends with robs him and leaves him stranded. He finally gets to his Uncles place only to find him a drunk. They have problems but his Uncle stops drinking and agrees to trail boss a herd to Kansas. The young man hires on as a drover. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

I really enjoyed reading this accounting of life as a cowboy on the Chisholm Trail. His telling the story through the eyes of a young, green cowboy made me feel like I was right there experiencing it as well. Mr Boggs has a wonderful way of keeping the story moving and I only managed a few hours of sleep before I had to find out what was happening next. I almost read it straight through! I definitely will be looking to see what else he has written!

His books are veryHard to put down . Will definitely continue to follow this Author !!

brings out a lot of historical characters, I've read 6 of his books, Return to Red River was great

What an excellent, very descriptive story! I think the main character could have acted a bit more mature at times, even at the tender age of 16, given the era of the story. A great story nonetheless.

Another excellent western, obviously very well researched and believable. Reading this author's books is like going back in time. As always with his books, I was sorry when this one reached the end of the trail.

Outstanding novel about adventures and hardships on a cowboy cattle drive! The characters are a good mixed breed of the old West cowboysIf you like western novels, this is a must read !

I've become a Boggs fan. His characters are more realistic than most western writers, I appreciate real life like stories rather than the "superman"t types in many books. I met Mr. Boggs a while back at a Santa Fe fund riser. I think he is as honest as his characters.
