got my sister in-laws ac unit back on line on the weekend with overnight shipping that was available. They have several young children so time was important. worked great.

I recently installed this hard start kit in my unit. After installation I ran the unit for about 5 minutes and all was well. As the temperature was not yet warm enough to require air conditioning, I still had my thermostat set to heat. A couple of weeks later I happened to look at my breaker panel and found the breaker for the AC unit tripped. This was a 40 A breaker. When I tried flipping the breaker back on, it immediately flipped off again. When I opened the unit I found that the capacitor of the hard start kit had exploded. I had an AC tech come out and he found that the contactor was not working. He replaced the contactor, but the unit still did not work. Further investigation found that the compressor was shot. $7,000 later I had a brand new unit. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!

I had my AC unit spring check up completed recently and the service tech recommended installation of a hard start kit. He stated this was necessary because the LRA rating for my unit was 112 and actual start up current was 125. The fee to install the kit would be $275.00. After researching what size (ton) my AC unit was I purchased this kit based on the sizing chart. The kit contains a potential relay and capacitor plus mounting hardware. Installation was easy and took about 15 minutes to complete. After installing the kit I took another startup current reading. The reading was 96 amps. Significantly lower than without the kit. I think the installation instructions could have a little better detail. Its a simple 3 wire hook up but I think it may be confusing as to where the black wire connects. The drawing indicates "thermostat" instead of contactor common. I was very pleased with this product and would recommend it to friends.

Comes with straight forward wiring diagram. Hooked it up in no time, works great!

Received the package in good condition. Simple but effective instructions (schematics). Compressor fired right up the first time.

Easy to install and performs exactly the way it was intended. Brought my starting Amperage down almost 50%, which is quite valuable due to my Generac generator requirements.

I bought this to help with start up of my HVAC compressor. It seemed to help but the capacitor blew up after ~8 months. It looked like a fire cracker exploded in it. They need better quality control, the damge was done and cost me $500 to repair and replace everything. At least so far, as the tech said the motor may also have damage and it will get worse overtime.
