Great Set for preschool+ experimenters!
This is a fun experiment set for preschoolers. Got this at a serious discount through an Amazon deal, or I don't think I would have purchased it. That said, my 4 year old surprisingly was super excited about it and loves it. He loves the animal theme but also that he can easily pour and mix liquids with the funnel into the flask from the test tubes. The test tubes also have caps with spouts and stands. The eye dropper works well, although I'm surprised it isn't long enough to reach the bottom of the Erlenmeyer flask. The tweezers are the one part of the set I find really lacking. The are bulky, hard to use, and aren't very good at picking things up, kind of defeating their intended purpose. The cards are somewhat helpful if you really have no idea what to do, but some of the ideas are kind of chintzy. Because of these issues, I find the list price of $23 quite steep, and would probably value this at $15 tops. If the tweezers were fixed and the eye dropper longer, and better and more experiment cards, I'd consider it worth the price tag.Otherwise I do think the other pieces are five star and really engaging for young kids in their experimentation and scientific learning. Since my son enjoys it so much, I left the rating at five stars instead of down rating it to four stars.Suggestions for different liquids to experiment with:WaterOilDish soapMilkVinegarLemon or lime juiceChocolate syrupMolassesCorn syrupSugar syrupEgg (beaten and unbeaten)Powders to add:7((Baking sodaBaking powderFlourSugarSaltSpices::jk

Mediocre
I bought this kit for my 3 year old to keep her occupied on a rainy weekend day, and hopefully teach her some basic concepts. I think there is some value here but there was also a great deal of unnecessary frustration trying to do some of these activities. I liked how you can quickly perform some of these activities using basic ingredients found in the kitchen, and the materials (tubes, flask, dropper, funnel) were well made. The activities were very simple (some overly so) but for a 3 year old not a bad way to keep them busy and working on their powers of observation. On the other hand, the test tubes were very tipsy and did not fit well into the stands, and some activities call for measuring and transferring dry ingredients to a bowl - this is very difficult to do following the directions (using the funnel here was futile) and without any dry measures included in the kit. Better to just get a bowl and spoon and skip using these other pieces that come with the kit - which really summarizes my main complaint is that the components in the kit itself are not necessary (none of the measurements are exact) and in many cases just make the activities more difficult and messy.Pros: Uses simple kitchen ingredients to teach basic concepts, quality of materials is goodCons:

This is a great set full of fun ideas for young one
This is a great set full of fun ideas for young one. We bought the set for my 2.5 year old as an introduction to science and something for he and his scientist father to do together. The pieces are sturdy and (so far) proven non-breakable. We have done experiments that included making bubble solution, blowing up balloons using baking soda and vinegar and making food coloring "paints." So far we have had everything on hand that was called for to do the experiments. My 2.5 year old loses a little patience when we are setting everything up, but is able to help pour things and mix things thanks to the large pieces and easy pour spouts. This is definitely a gift that will grow with him for several years.

The experiment cards are easy to follow
Very cute set, and designed to minimize spills and accidents. The experiment cards are easy to follow, but please read through them first before starting to make sure you have everything on hand.A few of the experiments are pretty cool- I'm looking at you, cornstarch- but some are kind of blah. Kids don't like to wait hours or days for their efforts, so I would suggest more "instant" projects.Overall, though, this is well made and fun for the youngest scientist in your family.

product shipped quickly and toy's packaging was nice -- I did not feel the need to rebox ...
I purchased this toy from Amazon as my nephew's Christmas present.Shipping and Packaging: product shipped quickly and toy's packaging was nice -- I did not feel the need to rebox before giving the gift.Durability: The pieces in this set feel very thick and have been durable so far. I wash them by hand but would feel comfortable placing them in the dishwasher.Fun: My nephew absolutely loves this toy. We use different food colors with water to teach him color mixing. We've also tried colored water and oil which he also enjoys.

A wonderful educational set
A wonderful educational set, I look forward to doing with my daughter. Comes with a science idea booklet with lots of neat projects. Right now, I let my 3 yr old toddler pour water into the vessels. She loves it and is learning not to overfill the containers. A wonderful set I know she will grow with. Happy to see her so excited.

Cute and Fun
The Kids (ages 8 , 7, 3) love this! I mainly got it for the 3 yr old thinking the others might be too old, but who isn't attracted to animals right? All the kids Love them. The instructions are well laid out. You only need to get a few extra things for a couple of the experiments, but most items are laying around the house.
