Health in America
A great readd that brought about many intriguing ideas. However , Sofia’s final story fell short by again placing emphasis on prestige. If health is suggested to be ge fundamental charge than education is health. Why should one have to be lucky to be able to go to the prestigious school? Why can’t all education be just and thereby allow for health.

Provides a much needed reset of how the United States thinks of health
This is an important book because it provides a much needed reset of how the United States thinks of health. Rather than quality of life at all life phases (and particularly older years), health is industrialized and conflated with individuals’ disease states and medical treatment thereof. It comes at a critical time when health policy leaders are affording increased attention to social determinants of health such as safe and clean neighborhoods, access to education and meaningful and remunerative work to improve population health and reduce demand for medical care. This is particularly relevant for preventative chronic conditions for which no cure exists -- often where medical science has reached a cost/benefit limit. This book comes as many are living in tents in unsanitary conditions on city streets and vacant lots, increasing the risk of infectious disease spread, reinforcing Galea's premise that individual health adversely affects overall population health. And the inverse where favorable social determinants of health help reinforce individual health.

Great read!
This book covered a lot of pieces on what it takes to achieve health and be well. The author points out a various public health issues and real life scenarios. A couple of chapters were an eye opener for me. I definitely recommend this book!

Excellent and Thought-provoking
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It reflects the hopes and dreams of so many marginalized people within our world to attain true health and shows that although difficult, these dreams can come through with deliberate action! Excellent writing!
