This book is an addition to my hobby of maps, com passes and navigation. I like the book and the information on teaming compasses, and GPS units to maps to accomplish my goals of precise navigation.

Great book!

This book is an introduction on how to use GPS devices for navigation in the wilderness or on water. It provides a good overview of GPS technology (the good and the bad) as well as basic navigation and map-reading. Finally, it includes points to consider before purchasing a device.The weakness of the book is also its strength. It is focused on using GPS for exploring off-the-beaten track and offers only a weak sense of how such devices can be used together with well-marked trails like those here in Europe. Finally, the book has become somewhat outdated.

Excellent book, every gps user should have a copy of this book. Bravo ! Bob Burns
