XR9550 Computerized Sewing and Quilting Machine 165 Stitches | 165 Built-in Stitches, LCD Display, Wide Table, 8 Included Presser Feet

This is the perfect machine for beginners and also for those that do not have a large budget. It works wonderfully. It comes with a number of useful feet. It stitches beautifully. I highly recommend this Brother Sewing Machine. It comes with an extendable “table” which makes it wonderful for quilting.

I just received my Brother XR9550 this afternoon and it deserves a review. I have sewn for 63 years and the first machine I bought was a used Brother back in the 70’s. I used that machine for about 30 years until I bought a computerized machine. I then gave it to my sister. She used it for another 15 years before I purchased a new machine for her. I’ve known for a while I needed a smaller more portable machine than the honkin’ big heavy sewing/embroidery machine I purchased about 15 years ago. Sadly I have not had it serviced or updated for about 10 years and it quit working on me right in the middle of a large nest of jeans repairs. I went on Amazon and chose this model because I thought it would handle what I need to do until my other is back up and running. I am not disappointed. Straight out of the box everything works and sews beautifully. The instructions are clear and everything I’ve sample stitched is great. FYI Brother, the only 2 complaints I have aren’t critical just something you might improve on. 1) the light could be brighter 2) I’m having difficulty using the threader. The finger push or whatever you want to call it feels flimsy to me. When I push down to rotate the thread into the needle eye I hesitate as it feels like it’s bending under the pressure. Sewers I’m very happy with this Brother. It’s easy to operate and stitches beautifully. It’s lightweight has a carry case and does everything I need. I anticipate it will serve me well for many years. I trust the brand and I’m happy.

For the price this has been a great sewing machine. I’ve hade zero issues with tension or the bobbin. It struggles just a tad over thick seams (bag making) but I knew that before buying. This is a step up from my first stater machine, and I’m very happy with it.

Best sewing machine ever. All standard stitches plus letters and numbers. start/stop features excellent, variable speed settings, and pedal usage - you can rest your heal on the foot pedal, and then adjustment of speed is very easy, either by the settings on the machine, or with your foot pressure. Love this machine for quilting!

This is a good, standard sewing machine, especially for someone who is just beginning their sewing journey. It is easy to use, has a good number of built-in stitches, and the LCD display is clear and straightforward. That said, this machine is very basic. While the product description may suggest it works well for all skill levels, I do not think it is a good fit for more advanced sewists. Features like the 165 built-in stitches and the LCD display are nice, but they are not particularly exciting or useful at an advanced level, and the machine lacks the more robust features an experienced sewer would expect. Because of that, I ended up returning it. It is a solid beginner machine, but not the right choice if you are looking for something more advanced as stated in the description, which is why I am giving it four stars.

Came in perfect shape and condition! Do not get me started on the amount of embroidery the machine provides it is phenomenal. It is also very thoughtful of them to provide a manual with so many translations making it possible for everyone to start on their projects once the machine arrives. Overall, I am so happy I made this purchase, best idea I ever made. Will not regret buying this!

Nice upgrade from the Brother XM2701. Would recommend as an entry level machine that should get you years of good use. My old machine was still good but was very loud and missing some features that this machine has. Improvements and nice features: * Quieter (still makes a decent amount of noise, but I can listen to a podcast with this running at full speed and still hear the words, whereas my old machine would drown out the podcast) * Extension table * Free motion foot and ability to drop the feed dogs, great for quilting * Electronic selection of stitches. Automatically adjusts the needle position and other settings so you stitch right the first time. I like the stitch 43 for patchwork, which automatically gives you a 1/4" seam allowance from the right side of the presser foot. * Automatic buttonholes work great * Different decorative stitches * Ability to adjust the thread tension, stitch length, and stitch width Would I eventually like to upgrade to a fancy machine like a Bernina? Sure, but there's really no pressing need to right now since I own this machine. The benefits of a fancy machine would be things like more metal parts, longer support life, ability to oil the machine, etc.

I've only had this machine a couple days, but had a lot of projects to complete in very little time. I was able to set it up and learn how it worked in no time. I was able to complete my projects and learn other options this machine has. I have back issues and being able to push a button instead of having to push down on a peddle sold me in the first place, but then being able to thread the needle without getting frustrated was the biggest selling point. I have a 1988 New Home that I love but it's starting to have small issues here and there. I would have cost me over $100 to tune it so that's why I went with this machine.

Muy buena máquina, llego en tiempo y forma. Bien enpaquetada. Hasta ahora a funcionado de maravilla, solo se batalla con telas gruesas, de ahí en fuera, excelente !! Para mí que no había utilizado una máquina en mi vida, fue muy amigable y súper fácil de usar.

I should have upgraded machines a long time ago. As a novice sewer this ma line is fabulous. So many functions, easy to use. We'll worth thr price. I love the extended table thay lines with it . Makes working with fabrics so much easier! Great buy!

I purchased this Brother sewing and quilting machine and then started taking sewing lessons, and it’s been a fantastic machine to learn on. With 165 built-in stitches, it offers plenty of variety while still being easy to use as a beginner. I’ve always wanted to learn how to sew, and now that I have, I’m really glad I chose this machine. It’s reliable and perfect for practicing and improving my skills. I would definitely recommend it to anyone starting out or looking for a dependable everyday machine.
